So my lovies I plan on getting a new PC this november in time for all the new games and for Storm 4's drop. I have no idea about anything having to do with PC's but it will be used for gaming at max settings. Doing my college work and watching 4k video's on vlc. Alright my loves!

Do you want it at 4k resolution if so your going to spend about $1300 if you buy it from a company and around $2000 if you build your own pc.

Isn't it cheaper to build it yourself, though?
Not all the time because you can build a pc that runs at game at 1080p for a low budget like around $350-$500 depending on what games it is, games like Castle Crashers would run just as good as it would of PS3 or XBOX 360 but when it comes to next gen games like Mad Max & Tom Clancy The Division Triple A games your Graphic would start stuttering and cutting up. Companies buy the parts in wholesale so if they bough plenty of gtx titan x graphic cards it would be cheaper they build then after sell it to make back the profit and more.

Look at the prices of these graphic cards for 4k most of them are $1000.

At least give a maximum budget.

If you want 4k for even the latest games you'll have to go SLI/Crossfire, since one card ain't gonna cut it, at least not if you want 60+ fps. Get two 980ti's and a 5th generation I7 (K or X will do), plus 16 gigs of RAM with any frequency and CAS latency, which is plenty. Everything else is almost irrelevant to gaming, but, of course:

- Make sure your motherboard can provide high overclocks and is the same socket as your processor.
- Make sure your PSU has the needed power. 800 watts for the above build is a minimum.
- Water cooling is a must.
- SSD will drastically reduce load times, both in games and your OS startup.
- Pretty much nothing except Windows 10 64-bit is an option.

Keep in mind that a single 980ti will get you about 40fps on 4k in the newest and most demanding games and will crush ones that demand above average builds, so think carefully before spending basically more than half a grand on a second GPU.

Lastly, do not buy a pre-built PC. You'll bee missing out on a lot, so just buy the parts and give ten bucks to any service to get it built.

What max settings are we talking about? 4K? yea no. 1440P possible, 1080p definitely.

Why not get a console?
LoL. next.

Max settings? Expect to drop a lot of money, then.
Depends on the game he wants to run.

You mean the other way around.

Building the PC yourself is cheaper than buying it from a company.

SSD for OS, HDD for games.

Pre-built PC are shit. And if you do plan to buy one OP, don't even go nearest this company called alienware.

^ SSD's also decrease game-loading times, more than HDD's for that matter.

But if you're like me and just care about FPS, that really doesn't matter.

If SSD didn't cost a lot, I would have told him to go for a 1TB SSD but that cost around 350 to 400 bucks. If I were him, I would go for a 256 GB SSD for the OS and the most heaviest games that you going to play in a daily basis. If he goes and buy a WD black HDD then he'll be good to go. Fastest HDD out there.

Even though I dislike alienware, they brought something that could potentially change the future. You know that you could connect a little machine with a graphics card to your laptop and you could play heavy games in max resolution, like if you were on a PC rather than a laptop. Gotta give them that.

What graphic card did you have and how many gb of ram were you using?

Not all the time depending on were you buy it from you can get a good deal this guy has an alienware alpha i7 version and was playing his GTA 5 on high settings for everything on pc it's more demanding , he was able to play it 1080p Frame rates would sometimes go over 60 for just $800. A gtx 970i is around $350, Intel Core i7 $350 ,Computer case $60 ,1TB harddrive $50, 8bg ram $50 etc it really does depend on were you get it from.

Why are you loking me to a wannabe console from alienware when the OP asked for a top dog custom pc?

8GB of ram? lol 16 please.

Not it does not. Custom PC is better because it's cheaper and because you can get more involved with your PC and in case something happens. You won't have to call ''customer service'' to fix something that you could have fixed on your own + saving valuable time.

I would recommend him a GTX 970, if he plans to go max settings in a lot of games then he shall go for the GTX 980Ti, sli.

Alienware is overpriced so don't link anything that involves alienware next time.
