I found this on tumblr.
"His appeal is some loser complex/ victim complex, it became annoying real quick. None of his goals interested me. What’s so interesting about seeking validation? The “save Sasuke from darkness” thing was forced and reeked of savior wish fulfillment. He’s too dumb and self absorbed to be given a goal like world peace, it made him even more annoying and shallow.I especially hate the hokage dream, it’s just Kishi’s childish fantasy about turning his haters into **** riders magically. It’s pathetic to invest so much of your self worth on fickle opinion from others.
All the tropes in his character have been better done in plenty of other series. If you like a underdog story, there’s Hajime no Ippo. If you like sunshine dumbass, there’s Luffy, If you like emo exposition about being lonely, outcast, shitty parents and childhood, there’s Tokyo Ghoul. If you’re NS, you like the trope of guys who’re persistent, well, I’m sure there’re many such characters who’re less selfish and more likable than Naruto.
On a more superficial level, he’s just not enjoyable to read, his comedy was un-funny, his lines are corny, repetitive and sometimes sounded borderline insane e.g. Obito is the coolest guy, truths don’t matter, only feelings matter. Lines said by other characters to wank him were often too saturated with pity."
