In the USA 2016 presidential election will a candidate's religious beliefs be a determining factor in your opinion?
I wouldn't care what religion the next president was as long as they did a good job and didn't **** up the country, but I feel that may not be the case for the rest of the nation. For some reason, the president has to strictly be Christian to get elected. Its sorta retarded.
I agree. I don't understand the need for a religious president, and I don't mind if the president is religious, but how religious is what determines my opinion of the candidate.
Presidential candidates discussing religion goes against one of the fundamental principles the nation was founded upon: separation of church and state.

Possibly true. I'm not really happy with any of the candidates really. None of them seem like leaders; they just look like actors/clowns. Bernie Sanders is probably the most honest candidate, but there's no way he will win. Unless something totally unexpected happens, Hillary will win the election. We all know that has never stopped them before

Donald Trump is actually a treat right now, don't count him out.

He is popular but not electable. The US is a representative democracy, meaning that popular votes don't always win the election. The most recent instance was Bush vs Gore. Al Gore won the popular vote but Bush won the electoral vote.
Here's a challenge: try to find out who your state's electoral voters are. Chances are you won't be able to. No one could go to the polls and there would still be a president elected by the no name electoral college. Democracy at the federal level is an illusion.

Especially since the people you voted to represent you in Congress often are lobbied to steer a different direction, thanks to the ever-reliable Citizens United Act.
Yes because the United States is One Nation Under God, a godless candidate is unworthy to become President of the United States.
