Ram, CPU, and Performance Help

So I have

Now it does state that "Memory is not user upgradeable, factory installed only". I this usually mean the panel to reach the ram is the whole bottom piece which is true unless someone know something I don't know of.

Now if I change the ram will it work? I'm looking into increasing it to 8gbs(or even higher but lets stick with 8gbs for the time being). CPUz states its a single channel but I have two slots. So if I get two 4gb will it work or do I just need to get a single 8gb ram.

Now the mhz of the original ram is 1333. Can I use 1600 or even 1866?

Will there be a performance difference in the mhz or will the computer just auto adjust the mhz to the required mhz for the cpu which is 1333?

As it states it's can't be upgraded I wouldn't even bother. I had a laptop once that it said so on, and for some unknown reason it was capped in bios. And if that's not the case, I've seen laptops that you need to remove the keyboard plate and everything else pretty much picking out the motherboard in the laptop to be able to switch ram, which is also pretty ridiculous, so you would have to break every warranty sticker there is and basically break apart your laptop as it's all screwed together without any bottom piece.

Just get a Lenovo from your nearest best buy, I paid under $300 dollars for an A8 processor with 2.0cpu and a R5 graphics card, and 8gb of ram. I'm not a heavy gamer but it can handle what I play.

There are two slots on this model, but it requires taking apart the laptop itself since there's no maintenance panel. I can't tell you which RAM will be compatible off hand, but I do know it's quite finicky.

Either way, I doubt you'll be able to use anything more than 1333 unless you change both sticks since one stick of something higher would just be downclocked.

RAM with different frequencies, CAS latency and especially voltage generally don't go together well. Hell, even upgrading a 2x4 kit with a completely identical but single stick of RAM generally isn't advisable since the kit is used in dual channel. By that, I don't mean that they'll immediately fry or anything too extreme - worst case scenario you'll just be underperforming. If you don't do anything, your computer will just set the Mhz of your total memory to the lower one - 1333mhz - unless you overclock it to 1600mhz. If you care about performance more, then this is the way to go. If you go plan on getting even higher, then watch the voltage - it's safe to say that anything above 1600mhz will probably shorten its life span, though that's somewhat theoretical and dependent on other factors.

If you're sure you know what you're doing then go for it. Otherwise, tinkering with laptops is a whole lot harder than with desktops, so I'd advise you to leave it to the pros.

Well I did take the bottom panel off to check out the ram and it just look like any laptop with ram. It didn't have any stickers just a panel with screws and it snaps on. I'm just worried about if I buy the ram will it actually work since I did use Crucial to see the memory compatible.

I will look into that. I am doing gaming but nothing to heavy. More like 4gb or 6gb worth of ram needing to play the game.

Well if that's the case you need to make sure you know exact what rams you already got in the laptop, as it might be types that run on lower voltage. Cause they don't claim it's not possible to upgrade without a reason, so it's definitely possible however, it won't be as easy as with normal laptops.

So I actually changed the ram in the laptop today and it had all the required details for it but one thing. It didn't come. So I talk to Toshiba and it comes out why they say cant be user changed is because the systemboard is configured to 4gbs nothing hired. So luckly I have two other laptops and used the ram in them instead.

So exactly like my old old laptop.. just locked at a certain ram gb for no apparent reason other than for people to buy new laptops.

Yep so guess I'll be looking into other laptop options. Spend more money this time. Just need to sell this laptop now. But I never heard of laptop companies doing this before.
