We've seen it twice now mentioned Vegeta passed Goku, but he was merely a SSJ2. How do you guys think this is possible? I have my own theory for why. Do you agree with it?

Simply put, SSJ is just a transformation. However, that doesn't mean you automatically transform when you reach a certain power level. There are more criteria. It is why goku and gotenks are the only 2 ppl who can go lvl 3, even though at a time Gohan was stronger than them

100% agree. I've seen a lot of people say there's no way Vegeta could be stronger than Goku, even briefly, but people forget Gohan was the strongest fighter at the end of the Cell and Buu sagas.

In the actual manga version no one actually says he is stronger than Goku and personally i'll always trust the manga versions over the animated versions

Well, the last time Goku transformed into SSJ3 where Master Roshi sensed him, was when Fat Buu was first here. He compared that Goku to current SSJ2 Vegeta.

Plus Vegeta was enraged.

A gigantic star will shine brighter than a large star. But when that large star goes supernova, it will shine brighter than the gigantic star for a brief period

In the RoF movie and the manga, if I'm not mistaken, Whis does say Vegeta could pass Goku if he wasn't holding himself back.

Using that logic, Vegeta being enraged, would fit Whis' statement. He's teaching Goku and Vegeta how to fight freely, unrestrained, and without thinking. Goku loses focus and Vegeta thinks too much/is obsessed with Goku. Neither is at their full power. In that brief period, Vegeta was unrestrained, so being enraged isn't a negative

Really don't think it could have ended there, but there was room to wrap the series up there if they wanted to.
Toriyama intended to end the series with Cell's defeat, and Gohan surpassing Goku. Then again, he also intended to end the series with Emperor Pilaf's evil plan being foiled, and Oolong getting a new pair of underwear.

Good point. Better ending point that the Frieza saga, which would have had too many plot holes to end there. I do know Toriyama did want to end the series in 16 volumes, but was pushed to go to at least 20, which went onto 520 chapters overall of Dragonball. Shame really, Kishi and Kubo look as if they were told to hurry up the ending of their series. Both of their final arcs felt/feel rushed respectively.
