This is a mistake but if u read my scenario's you'd understand why Sasuke could of effectively made up for it.

It's not really a mistake. But you have to give Shin his credit when he proved himself. They were in the air and Shin attack first and he got the advantage with the moving weapon which ability Sasuke don't know. While Sasuke was busy with the weapon, he got closer. Since he was in the air, the movement was limited
Since Shin was in close-range and got may mangyekyo sharingan while Sasuke had 3 tomoe...It shouldn't a suprise if he grabbed the sword.

Most people wont grab a sword bare handed but I guess it was his plan (I mean Shin) to get his blood on the sword and to let Shin Jr attack Sasuke while they cant move in mid-air. But Sasuke bested them with Ameno/fireball combo and Shin got no choice to sacrifice Shin Jr.

Sasuke should have finished him when he was on the ground and not going inside the Kurama avatar

Even so I still cant beleive it. But admit it, Shin had guts even though he was weaker. His tactics was dirty: trying get hostage, aiming at kids for the ooponent to let guards, using meat shield, running away when he failed. Suprises attacks always get the best of him, but that was lame.

If Sasuke let Naruto fight that wouldn't of happened. If Naruto wasn't nerfed that would not happen.

It has more to do with plot than anything else. Why didn't Naruto attack Shin? He's always been pretty eager.

Shin had to survive for the enitrety of Gaiden. We can't have him be beaten that quick.

Honestly, this isn't really that important, just something I noticed and wanted to point out since everyone was talking about Naruto's battle sense's being off in gaiden.

In this sequence Sasuke makes a ridiculous mistake:

Instead of waiting until the last second right before little shin stabbed him and then switching places with big shin so he would get stabbed in the back by little shin Sasuke instead decides to switch with little shin and shoot a fireball. This was just inefficient and tactically inept. Or if Sasuke didn't want him stabbed, he could of waited until little shin almost hit him and then switched so his fireball wouldn't have to travel as far and it would hit both of them. Sasuke was off his game just as much as Naruto.

Naruto's and Sasuke's skills are still top-notch but they haven't actually been in real combat in years since it was peaceful times so yes both battle senses were dulled but when you take into account of their higher skill; then dull is still stronger than their war arc fully ready to fight.

Sakura couln't take him head-on, only suprise attack get rid him. Sure he's not on the level on Naruto and Sasuke, but he may be on the level of a jounin ninja.

Shin already explained what they are for him when he was talking with Sakura.
He could use them as meat shield and could take their organs whenever he wanted.
I told you he used dirty tactics. He was a real villain afterall.

Sasuke being down on chakra has nothing to do with his battle senses being off, which is the whole premise of OP's argument. Sasuke was still able to use Ameno anyway, so OP might have a point about Sasuke switching with the Shin clone instead of doing what he did.
