What exactly are you implying?
That he barealy blitzed Kisame from 20 or less meters but you think he's blitzing Mu who has incredible reactions from 40?

Except I never said Gai would blitz anything. I very clearly said he would shoot Muu out of the sky, after closing the 40 meter starting distance. In the the sixth gate, Gai can cover a 40+ meter distance within seconds very easily [You must be registered for see links].
What? You're saying he would cover the distance before Mu reacts, despite Kisame being able to from 20, Mu can easily fly away until he's finished going invisible, in which case he then proceeds to low diff Gai.
I literally said twice now, that Gai would shoot Muu out of the sky. How do you conclude that I'm implying that Muu isn't getting the chance to react. I'm saying Muu would already be flying... Can you read?
I'm saying that he's not shooting anyone because Mu is not going to sit there while he goes invisible he's going to keep moving until he does so .-. So he's not getting "shot down".
Never said Muu is going to sit there. The issue is, he can't dodge the AoE of Morning Peacock.

Uh, why's this? Its AOE isn't even that large distance wise, especially when you add in the fact that just being hit by a few of them doesn't do much.
If he starts moving when Gai begins his attack he'd most likely be invisable by the time Gai starts shooting them off anyways..
What if he hides behind one of the stone pillars in the area?
How so?

I always thought Mu was naturally a bad matchup but Gai has a chance of winning.
Mu's invisibility gives him off away and there are reasons why Gai has his chances against Mu:
- This is a pretty good scan of the locationYou must be registered for see links
We've already seen this happen in that area:

So the "Crunch" sound made and the footprints would give away his position whether he's in front or behind Gai.
- Even though, Gai can still tell if he's coming visible at any point:

Notice how there a sounds made when he comes visible(The SFX). Gai can utilize this so even though the location were different, Gai would know at least. Of course, there's a limit to that but still you get my point?

Kinda similar but yeah Jinton gives away some kinda noise and we know when using this, one has to be stillYou must be registered for see links
Mu can indeed hover slightly above ground level but a CQC in general is a bad idea for Mu giving the fact that Gai as well as shown to react to things he can't seeYou must be registered for see linksand this may be due to his natural reflexes which at least would take in account the slightest of sounds. Then again, Mu has already shown to go invisible when he wants to attack from one's blindspot rather than just attacking while invisibleYou must be registered for see links. Reasons for this?
Excellent points from Braiyan and FT...Gai's striking speed, movement speed and AOE of MP can prove problematic for Mu.
What you're suggesting is wrong. Mu isn't going to fly away until he's entirely invisible. That's combining 2 techniques at once even though one of them(Invisibility) requires the use of chakra constantly. Unless you're suggesting he takes flight first then goes invisible but that would mean he's already caught with the superior striking speed (Asakujaku) in the Seventh since the process would be nothing much for Gai to deal with given the fact that he can be seen going invisible slowly as shown before. If Mu goes invisible first, based on what we've seen he's going to have to undo that technique to to carry out a different one since that requires constant use of chakra. Which is why we never saw him do so in the Manga.
He takes flight first then goes invisible, which is perfectly capable of happening BEFORE Gai blitzes from 40 freaking meters away lmfao

Refer to the AOE of the attack.
What AOE? It's a bunch of punches flying at high speed the range is about as long as his arm with the fireballs giving it a little boost, if there is a shockwave it isn't very large as it didn't touch Kisame who was right on top of the sharks.
That's because Gai aimed for the sharks and to Kisame like he clearly said if you read that chapterYou must be registered for see links. Also, as long as his arm meaning? Lol.
It took out a lot of sharks which is why Kisame who was at the top like you said, ended up underwater in the next panel.
What? Just realized he didn't even take out all of them. So there can't be any shockwaves being eminated from it or they all would have been hit by one .-. But no only things that are physically hit by his punches can take damage.
His reach is its range.
