I believe this is in reference to the 2012 bus rape of Jyoti Singh. The rapists who were over the age of 18 were given the death penalty however, they are still alive as their lawyers are consistently appealing their convictions. The 17 year old boy was only given a sentence of three years and was trialed as a juvenile.

I guess something did happen but I don't believe justice was served. The 17 year old boy could be released sometime this year. The other four men are still alive. They not only raped but consequently killed this women. This rape was just ghastly to be honest.

Death sentence has to be confirmed by HC. If the defendant/convict doesn't appeal, state will have to do itself, if I remember correctly. And then most accused would like to go to SC and president. It took four years even for Kasab- He was convicted in 2010 for terrorist attack in 2008 and the sentence was finalized in 2012 only.

One of them committed suicide. The minor- well you can say the most dangerous is out there but what's there to do .. at least he was not ordered just community service.

And then there are those who start with whole- no death penalty arguments and petitions...

You can never recompense the damage. Best thing to do is imprison them, and all other life violators in cramped, sparse prison cells. And make them spend their days doing nothing but gruelling work that somehow benefits society. And when I mean sparse, I mean make them sleep on the cold hard floor, feed them only enough to sustain them and do all their business in a drain. Really make them live like dogs.

They'll never know happiness again, and that's the closest thing you'll ever get to compensating retribution. Castration is fleeting punishment; once the pain has finished they'll just find other ways to be happy, and they shouldn't be happy ever again.
