Only good thing is that the poor bastard is free from torment in a sense. Seems to me she's receiving sympathy for some weird ass reason. Not even sure why that is so.

There can be so many scenarios that unless there is a clear evidence of parental negligence it's not right to blame them and they don't seem to be at fault. They just missed the signs if any that their son was still harboring such intentions. Sometimes it's just the wrong moment and there isn't any alarming sign.

Actually if you look at Mwezi's post there is evidence of neglection by the parents. Although it is not very clear yet.

I still don't buy into the fact that this kid had depression for no reason. There was someone or something in his life triggering it.

The girl was being stupid in sending those messages but I cannot claim to know what she was thinking. She was 17. There are plenty of people who think they know what they are doing when they are not.

The girl was stupid indeed. But once again this was a online realationship. Many people say things to get attention. It's not that hard to believe that this was one of those cases.

Frankly best thing you can do is to get far far away from such people unless you are prepared to put up with their suicidal tendencies. Especially the ones who try to use it as a blackmail to get their way or too frequently. Otherwise at one point they just might carry out that threat and will cause you to get charged with abetment anyway.

I am sure this is the type of lesson we all learned from this. Specially that girl.

No news is covering reasons of his depression as far as I checked. So we are not likely to find out. Otherwise such thoughts are common in depression patients.

That is my problem with this whole thing. We are not getting the full story of why this happen? The root cause of this guy's behavior is not even being looked upon.

No I didn't read his post. But of course the case is going to focus on whether he would have done it at that moment or not in absence of texts.

I don't know about online relationship either- in one news someone said why didn't the girl contact the family or school authorities so I assumed they knew each other in RL and probably from the same school

The DA is in some kind of relation with dead boy's family so even if recused himself, it's his office that's going to be prosecuting. The girl better get a really good lawyer.

According to prosecutors, the two had struck up a romantic relationship — mostly online — in 2012. Her lawyer says they had only met a few times in person over the course of two years prior to Roy’s death.

Roy had a history of depression and had attempted suicide in the past, but his family was hopeful that he would get through it.
It says right here it was mostly a internet realationship^. It also says they met only a few times. That explains how she knew his family.

Its just an attention seeking *****. Don't really care for that guy though, but that girl definitely should get whats coming to her.

hmm That explains girl's detached attitude better. She should have blocked him instead of talking and if he persisted told her parents and gotten her number changed. Text messages are selective release so I guess we will find out how court saw it. Rest assured the family of the boy and internet would send her in depression in her turn anyway.

Well it depends on the situation really. Maybe at some point she did try to help this guy out? She could have lost it in the end. Either way all this is speculation at this point.

Don't skewer me here but, perhaps it isn't as bad as we would think. Sure religion and 'morals' tell us that committing suicide is 'wrong'. How though? Perhaps the kid genuinely wanted to die? The girl may have just been what pushed him over that steep hill.

Anyway, the girl is dead wrong and deserves to be jailed for a very, very long time. The kid clearly had something wrong with him because he just allowed this girl to coax him into going through with this. They are both clearly mentally ill.

the title of this post was this:

"[Debate] Girlfriend allegedly encourages boyfriend to suicide"

but in actually it's not alleged, it been proven, she did this, every single day, for hours... even when he was backing out debating why he should not commit suicide she kept pushing try to persuade him to do it.

and in the end she succeeded, she made him commit suicide, and she not been in his life he would have been alive today, and that is a fact!

if it wore up to me she should get the death penalty.

He must have been really stressed and depressed to kill himself. I guess the girlfriend's reputation is long gone. Must be a backlash.

Obviously she should be charged to a degree.
