I live in Southern Ontario (a province of Canada:p) and every winter is getting colder and lasting longer. I used to love winters growing up but now it gets to -25 to -30C most days of the winter season and it is frustrating.

Sometimes I just feel like moving somewhere warmer and even though its a cliche, California sounds perfect except for the high population. Florida is also a good option but I hear its too humid and I'm worried about the coastal storms. The southwest like New Mexico would be pretty good as well.

The only thing that would stink is leaving all my friends and family behind in Canada. I like my job a lot but I'm dreading the thought of the upcoming winter.

I know that the winters are a lot harsher up North but I get depressed not being able to play tennis, basketball, etc., year round.

I guess, I just wanted to vent but lets make this a good discussion:

Do you feel like moving? If so, where and why do you want to move?

Sometimes. Not sure where though. I live in West Virginia and I'm not a mountain/country person at all, but I like the small town-quietness feel of it.

Canada sounds awesome, but man, the snow must be insane. The winters that I've encountered, at worst, are probably not even close to what goes down up there. Definitely a hazard and hella cold. Cali is crowded and Florida has horrible weather. Maybe a smaller statr would be better for you. Something still warm, but a bit less crazy.

I can never truly leave where I originated, I've been to many other places but there is no place like it, but I'd like to live in Paris and/or London for like 2-3 years.

Personally, i dont know why anyone would purposely move from Canada to the US, but because you insist, you should move to Oregon. It's very progressive, it has a desert, rainforest, beach (cold af), and it gets warmer every year. You should avoid states very far south because it gets much hotter than you'd expect, and estimates say that it'll only get worse in the passing years. Oregon has a big city, suburbs, and country. Amazing culture. Moderate tempuratures. With the exception of this summer, its quite rainy, so if you like rain there you go, but if you don't, then there's always the Oregon Desert.

But you can snowboard ._.

Anywho, I might leave to go live on the carribean island where my parents grew up. I love my country and city (Holland) but this country has this mentally of 'living to work' whereas Curacao has the mentality of 'working to live'. I don't want to be a paycheck slave and I know it's inevitable but I might as well work at fancy restaurants on a carribean island where I have family around and more freedom. Yet..my city is in the top 3 most green/nature Dutch cities. And all my friends are here. Think I'll try though.

Population shouldn't prevent you from going to Cali. But how much the winter in Southern Ontario ruin your activities?

When I am referring to population being a problem, I am indirectly talking about the inevitable traffic. I hate long commutes to work and I hear that traffic is dreadful in California.

The winters are fun most of the time but it is the wind chill which can cause severe frostbite on your hands and face. I remember when I was pumping gas after work on the way home and my hands almost turned fully numb from the cold, even though I was wearing gloves.

Usually, it was never this cold but since 2013, the winters have gotten out of hand and we had a polar vortex in the winter of 2013. The cold made it a torture to even shovel snow and walk outside. I can't imagine how people live in Alaska or in the northern provinces of Canada.o.o

I see. Well, dealing with traffic rather than living in cold places where it could worsen your condition, and even worst, you would be lonely in any new town until with time you'll make new friends. For California it's worth living there even if the traffic was so dense. Besides, you have Anime-Expo every year there in LA.

Hey bro. I'm not sure if you remember me or not but I'm Canadian as well. I might be in the minority but I like winter. It does suck commuting to places but I love the cold a lot more than heat. It's much easier to withstand the cold than the heat because you can always wear more layers. I am enjoying summer a lot more this year. Overall, my preferred season is fall.

Anyways answering your question :p England is my choice. I love Canada though, everyone is friendly. I feel that adapting to the culture to other places would be difficult for us. Btw, you found a job already? Congratulations :)

Yes, I remember you:). I love Canada a lot and would love to live in Toronto but the problem would be the winter. Its not that much different since I live a couple of hours from there. I really feel like Toronto is the best city in the world due to its multiculturalism, attractions, food and nightlife.

I'll probably not move for at least a year due to other circumstances but thanks to everyone in this thread for giving me insight on my problem as well as sharing where they would like to move.

I live in northeastern US, but I travel to southern FL monthly.

The heat can be oppressive during late summer, but I'd like to relocate there. What could be better than walking on the beach in shorts during Christmas vacation?? :flowers
