Nope, he could. Let's take the case of FTG Slash. Hashirama can't be faster than the FTG, but he can be faster than the movement of the slashing. That's what he can counter. And yeah, that's what Madara did to Tobirama.

But that's only in SM. In Base Hashirama nor Madara would be able to counter correct?

@ Riker, but if the slash was simply in a stationary (already in positioned) stabbing position, while FTG was used, what would there be to initially react to? FTG would completely go through their body, without them having time to react because it was an instant, fluid motion.
