You're talking about end of story Kakashi and Gai. You know, Kakashi with Kamui? One of the most haxxed jutsu out there? Part I Kakashi with 3T and stamina problems would get mauled by 7G Gai.

Telling me who surpassed who by the end of the manga is irrelevant when discussing part 1 Kakashi, so we cannot really use part 2 portrayals when discussing this due to Gai being pretty much irrelevant for the entire part I, and not having a single fight save for blitzing one sound fodder. As for Gai not being able to go 7G, that's ridiculous. His 14 year old student was able to go 5, and Gai taught him everything he knows. You really think an adult, grown ass Gai wasn't able to open all 8? By this point Gai is already an established Taijutsu veteran.
