Whether you have parents or not by your side, doesn't change the fact you as a kid could become a spoiled brat since it's a normal instinct for a child to grab attention of his parents.
Boruto barely appears (well, I mean the significance of his appearance is a bit vague still), yet fans have judged him like he's shown in the series for... let's see... 10-20 chapters? Boruto has a mindset of an ordinary boy, that is, to surpass Naruto in order to be more noticeable in the eyes of his dad. Kids whom have experienced war and losses with kids whom get to live a peaceful life have their own problems plus viewpoints. Or else we the new generation; Gen Y wouldn't have any trouble right now.

PS: Then again, not that I'm surprised. With biased fanbases and stuffs around here, I should've expected some random hatred from members.
