What's even more sad is that just when you thought Kishi wouldn't troll Amaterasu even further, he just did by having it do at most an arm injury to both of them. I never liked how that clash ended! It should of been Amachidori vs Rasenjudama. (Then i could understand the arm injury alone, but Naruto should of exploded into confetti).

The ama is what took out their arms. Essentially plot. Kishi had the idea of having them lose their arms at the final clash long before manga ended. But Naruto and sasuke have been clashing since they were kids. So ama was the only new thing in there. Funnily enough, Sasuke's own tech took out his arm.

There are inconsistencies though, the ama should have burnt Naruto's tech. ama should have burnt Naruto's entire body, ama should have burnt them both since it started on Sasuke too. Ama should have burnt the entire place too, Sasuke wasn't awake to switch it off, it should have been burning if/when they woke up.

It's logic really. It's the only new thing in the combo. Chidori/Rasengan clashes have been happening since part2. ama is really the only new thing in the equation.

Well, when a normal Chidori and Rasengan clash, there is enough force to blow them back a bit. They clashed with a normal Chidori infused with Amaterasu and a normal Rasengan. This time, their arms blew off. Since that doesn't happen before and Amaterasu is the factor that wasn't there before, the best conclusion is that Amaterasu caused it.

Edit: Just reread the viz translation, and Kurama did give Naruto some chakra for the Rasengan, though it wasn't much at all. It was even smaller than the Rasengan he made when he tripped on the rock and fell. If anything, Naruto made the Rasengan out of Kurama's chakra, rather than enhanced a Rasengan he made with his chakra with Kurama's.

I always thought Naruto should have been dust after that clash, along with the surface below him. At most, Sasuke should of lost the arm and have serious injuries.

In the shonen manga where the MC's dream is to be the strongest ninja and Hokage.. and he ends up as the strongest ninja to live.. no Sasuke =/= Naruto in that manga.

Unless you are the guy who tries to kill someone desperatly , but fail to despite the other guy not even taking the fight as an actual fight or not even bothering to kill you. Only reason they ended up in the same state is due to Naruto only countering Sasuke, instead of trying to overpower him.

He can't move in mid-air. Aiming anywhere else besides at the Rasengan at that point in time would result in him getting hit in the shoulder or face.
