You can tell they based the 'not black character' on a black person. It's obvious. I'm not saying they are racist for doing it, but hiding behind the, "She's not even human" barrier just makes you look a tad more racist.

Notice the 'not black character' has huge lips and the 'not white character' does not. That's a common portrayal of black people in cartoons.

I used to read the comics when i was i kid, all the main girls barring Bloom were not even from planet Earth iirc. And none of their hair were realitic, my sister always pointed it out anytime she saw them. It is a weird comicstyle feature: freaky hairs. Artists have their own style and i highly doubt Europeans have legit hair like that.

As someone who has curly hair and is involved with art of drawing (thus wants to draw the curls more), i can say thay drawing curly hair is harder than straight or wavy ones. Other than detail this is partly relevant to fact that there are less representation for that type of hair in visual fiction (both presented by real people or in drawings) so straight/wavy seems like "default and normal", people do not go for those hairs unless it is specified.

Going back to my point on curls being harder to draw, they also require some sort of texture in visuals to look more accurate. For showing straightness you can draw some lines over on same direction and be done, there is the texture. For curls unless you draw some curled lines at multiple directions and be realistic in levels it won't look either too disproportional or proportional it will look unfitting. Without those details like texture hair will look like muffin (like in multiple cartoons). Maybe that is why they choose "loose" curls over higly textured ones.

Curly hair is kind of easy for me to draw actually. I have a hard time drawing wavy hair lol

Notice how people who are "white but actually are not" have basic features of white people even sometimes exaggerated ways (thin nose, fairness etc.) But "black but actually are not" or "insert any non-white but actually are not" only support some features if only they conform certain approved or "acceptable" standarts of looks in mainstream/white dominated Western World? Like they can have dark skin -not too dark though- or thick lips but wide noses or afro/dreadlocs etc. hairtsyles are not around nearly at all?

They did make it out like her Afro was a bad thing to have, which a little black girl watching could become insecure about. Infact a lot of women in our community get perms and weaves to cover their so called "naps" because people don't acknowledge the curls. And like most things that are different it gets shunned. As you probably know the natural hair thing for black women has just recently in the few years started to become more popular and accepted because the media portrays "being yourself" nowadays.

I don't find it offensive but people are extremely sensitive on most subjects these days.

I don't see it as that because her hair was probably naturally straight. I'm still glad that in real life natural hair is being so accepted. People use to complain about my natural hair( I thought they were haters) but now more people tell me they like my hair. I really never when though the whole insecure about my hair thing. That was two different characters. The one in the clip was a non important character and the other was a main character that appear later in the show. I wouldn't call it a sumliminal message because the episode really wasn't about her.You can check it out....it was pretty bad because the heros didn't resolve anything with the villians.

I don't think I pick that up.I still doubt it being subliminal.The problem I had was that the episode was about a witch who felts she wasn't pretty.All the contestant in the beuaty contest was messed over and the villian made that witch chick "pretty".The witch chick won the contest but the villains returned her back to the way she looked the moment she won.The judges ridiculed her and disqualified her and one of the main character won. The witch chick still felt she looked ugly.The problem wasn't resolved. No one went to see if she was okay.She appear in another episode were she was talking about how she didn't feel pretty. I'm not sure if that problem was resolved

I tried to say non-whites or characters based on non-whites don't have all their possible and actually more common features portrayted in visuals.

Like you can see dark skin (not "too dark") or thick lips because they are considered beautiful or atleast passable by Westernized beauty standarts. But dreadlocs, afro hair, wide noses are not as common because they do not fit in these beauty standarts. For example when model Zendaya wore her hair as dreadlocs some media reviewers said "she prolly smells like weed lol":

Those people were pretty stupid for saying that about Zendaya. I even see people calling people with dreads "thugs".Like how does a hairstyle make you a thug?
