So there's this cartoon called Winx Club and it's about mainly fairies and witches and magic. This is this clip that has been floating around facebook claiming that Nick is responsible for

People are even trying to report Nickelodeon for this.
Thing is they failed to realize that this show was dubbed 3 times (rai english, 4kids, and nick dub).That clip is the rai english dub.It never showed it america like the 4kids and nick dub.The nick dub remade the first few seasons to catch up to the original Itailian version of the show so that clip was not in the nick dub and 4kids tried to dodge the "hair problem" by giving the girl a "voice" problem.
So I first saw the clip in a Natural Hair group on facebook and the people were outrage.Most of them never watched the cartoon or researched it. So they though winx was shaming black people which is stupid because the character wasn't black or a human for that matter. The show got a main character that looked "black"

but apparently they still was mad because they said her hair texture was looser than the girl crying in that video. In that video there was also a character with purplish puffy hair

but no one wanted to talk about her because they said she "wasn't realistic because her hair was purple"....like the whole show is unrealistic.... None of these people though to themselves "maybe the black girl hair is naturally straight". I even watch the episode and it was about a witch (who appeared"white") who wanted to "look pretty". The black character that was crying in that clip wasn't really that important and so many people blow it out of proportion. Other characters was also messed over on that episode but only the non important black character was important to them. I got a lot of backlash for call the clip not racist.I even was called a brainwashed black female that is appealing to eurocentric views(whatever that's suppose to be). The name of the episode was Winx Club Season 1 Episode 12 "Miss Magix" RAI English HD.The only problem I had with the episode is that the main character didn't stop the bad guys. Do you guys think those people blew the clip out of proportion by calling it racist?

In bad taste means they could have done it better or should have done something differently entirely. Yes, it is a problem. But I didn't ask what your problem was, did I, nor was your problem relevant to that moment. You should have instead said "I don't see it as a problem."

This show is maybe 10 years old so I don't know what people are searching to prove...

I used to read the comics when i was i kid, all the main girls barring Bloom were not even from planet Earth iirc. And none of their hair were realitic, my sister always pointed it out anytime she saw them. It is a weird comicstyle feature: freaky hairs. Artists have their own style and i highly doubt Europeans have legit hair like that.

As someone who has curly hair and is involved with art of drawing (thus wants to draw the curls more), i can say thay drawing curly hair is harder than straight or wavy ones. Other than detail this is partly relevant to fact that there are less representation for that type of hair in visual fiction (both presented by real people or in drawings) so straight/wavy seems like "default and normal", people do not go for those hairs unless it is specified.

Going back to my point on curls being harder to draw, they also require some sort of texture in visuals to look more accurate. For showing straightness you can draw some lines over on same direction and be done, there is the texture. For curls unless you draw some curled lines at multiple directions and be realistic in levels it won't look either too disproportional or proportional it will look unfitting. Without those details like texture hair will look like muffin (like in multiple cartoons). Maybe that is why they choose "loose" curls over higly textured ones.
