The last place I looked said their normal rate was $35 per hour. I typed your question into Google and got the same answer.

Actually those are entry-level positions reporting those wages. Most of the articles I've read were reports of people who do inbetweens or coloring. Stuff you get interns or college graduates to do. They're going to be low, like minimum wage low.

I heared that animators in japandon't get paid enough to support themselves .. That sounds worse than a minimum paying job !
But then again better studios probably pay more than average ones !

Are you sure because I saw a atricle or video of this top animator for naruto and I think he worked with tokyo goul and he said his wage was still pretty bad. I even saw other thinks saying even if you are a great animator there you may still have a bad wage and they get pay per frame.

It's slave work, that is if you work in Japan.

It varies, but ranging around 400/monthly. $5-7 each page.

I'll let you know! Seriously, I'm following a 3-year course of 3D Modelling (high/low poly), Texturing, Materials, Rigging, Lighting, 3D/2D Animation, Matte Painting, Character Creation & Design using 3DS Max, Maya, After Effects, Premiere, Fusion, Zbrush and of course Photoshop.

Students who graduate get jobs quite fast, even in foreign countries, and there are even who work at 'Rockstar Games'. It depends on your level, portfolio, job function, company and country I guess. ..So many parameters. I don't know how much the difference is between a 2D and 3D animator though. My guess is that a 2D Animator, especially in Japan, is quite the slave job.

It really depends, I know independent animators that make an amount that varies depending on skill and project. But I also use to have neighbor who animated for Pixar and he made at least 100k a year and had a nice car and house.

So there are more variables, in jobs in entertainment it's not as stable as to say. I make this amount a month because it's usually done through a contract of some sort.

Then again, Pixar is the top. I've heard that some employees sleep there often during big projects. Good wages but hard work. Like you said, it depends on the contract.
