He blindsided Burgess. It doesn't say much. People are just too quick to jump into conclusion just like the retarded guys who said Doflamingo was down for the count just because the chapter ended with a hit. Can't people just learn to wait til the end before saying anything conclusive? Sabo is infront of a weakened Doflamingo at the moment. Do you think Sabo is weaker than weakened Doflamingo? Or do you think he'd defeat him during the 10minutes charge time Luffy has left? Obviously Burgess has to be strong enough to hold him until at least that long

Exactly.
He's the no.3 of the crew most probably, behind Shiliew and Blackbeard, hence he's close to them in power which means he's comparable and probably stronger than Magellan (considering the timeskip)
And Magellan was stronger than any prisoner in the prison, including the new Shichibukai that f*cked up Zephyr, which means Burgess is more or less on a similar level to Sabo, when using comparisons

Burgess can not defeat luffy so sabo is a great deal.He attacks luffy when he can't even move.This also shows that BB pirates can only win when they fight dirty.See from Jaya to MF & even now.They may be somewhat powerful but not win like a winner should

It was all improvised. With all the mess happening at Dressrosa
Burgess had any intention to fight fair and square for the mera mera in the Colloseum. He even told Luffy he looked forward to fight him.
I'm dissapointed a bit in him aswell tho, attacking Luffy like that. But oh well he's a pirate afterall and seemingly not the brightest
