Although OP what do you think about Sasukes repressed feelings. He showed at the end of 699 he had repressed feelings for his teammates and comrades. Would that switch up your analysis.

Sasuke travelled the whole world on a journey of redemption. How is that a lack of empathy?

Sasuke was seeing through Haku's movements before he awakened the Sharingan, and once he awakened it he completely saw through, and dodged his movements.Haku saw this, knew that if the battle continued he would lose,so he targetted Naruto.

Read this and the next few pages

Sasuke took Haku's attacks to save Naruto's life.

He didn't attack the Summit either. He went there to get Danzo,White Zetsu told the Kages he was there, and the Raikage, his guards,Gaara,Temari,Kankuro, and the Samurai went to him.He escaped, went to the Kage room where he thought Danzo was, then the Samurai guy attacked him while Danzo ran away.Sasuke started to follow him,and the Mizukage sealed the exit.He even told her not to get in his way.

She attacked him anyway,so did Chojiro, ane the Tsuchikage. And basically everything else is forced examples, and reasoning on your part.

Psychopath?

  • Manipulative - who or what did Sasuke manipulate in the manga? He always seemed direct in his communication, often callously so
  • Charming - sure, the ladies were charmed by his appearance and style, but for their own desires, not because of his desires
  • Impulsive - although his goals changed, nothing was done on impulse, unless you count protecting Naruto during the Land of Waves or not killing him at VoTE - both were acts of empathy
  • Violent - (clears throat) ninja - duh?
  • Lack of realistic long-term goals - in the NV, his goals might not have been accepted, but they were realistic
  • Sexual promiscuity - where was this shown? if anything, he seemed to ignore the ladies chasing him
  • Juvenile delinquency - child raising himself, yet he followed the accepted rules of the village until leaving to seek Orochimaru
  • Irresponsible - if this is directed at Sarada, let's wait and see the true story

Sasuke has lots of emotional problems, but I disagree with the diagnosis of psychopathy. PTSD is more likely. He was a normal, loving child until the massacre.

By this logic, I would be labeled a psychopath as well...

For the apology bit, he may not know how to actually convey his real feelings, he seemed full of emotion when he was admitting defeat to Naruto in their battle of ideals...
For the lack of empathy part, he seemed to empathize with Itachi's pain, which served as the reason for him wanting to kill those that made him hurt so much.
For the violence part, it's actually normal for teenagers with his... Background, to want to resort to violence, literally every teenage boy I've vibe in contact with has violence as a natural first response, until logical reasoning kicks in (with some). If a man killed off your entire family and left you as an orphan, would you legit want to just sit and talk to him? For a good reference, you should watch Law Abiding citizen starring Gerard Butler.
If the older brother you loved so much was hurting, as a protective little brother, wouldn't you want to get revenge on them? Wouldn't you want them to feel the pain of your older bro?
Lol @not talking to Naruto, Sasuke knows Naruto the best... He knows for a fact that he ain't gonna just sit back and let Sasuke have his Revolution, Naruto simply has a one track mind, and the reasoning of a female (no offense to Naruto fans): the reasoning of "My way or the highway"

Too long, I gave up therefore didn't read
I can totally understand that. I can't stand reading super long threads unless I'm completely interested or have a lot of time on my hands.

Maybe you should be mentally diagnosed, and don't take this the wrong way. There's nothing wrong with being a psychopath. Its recorded that most sociopaths and psychopaths tend to be working parts of everyday society. Just because they have an antisocial disorder, does not mean their behavior is restricted as such.

Haha, I did. My class visited the mental health department at a hospital near the school. We had a chance to get evaluated and from my report, I was a bit narcissistic and apathetic, but not abnormally so. Everyone's a bit narcissistic, we're living in the age of the selfie.

Its possible for Sasuke to have actual feelings for Naruto and Sakura, but they would not be intentionally repressed. There's just a lack of actual feelings for them. Psychology's pretty complicated, one psychologist could evaluate Sasuke and seem has a person who suffers from an antisocial disorder, while at the same time another psychologist could evaluate Sasuke as a troubled teen suffering from the trauma he experienced as a child.

Are you really trying psychoanalyze a character in a world that send 16 year old kids and younger to war?

Great thread! I miss this kinds of threads that truly delves inside the character and try to understand him...
The only other thread I remember that did what you did now was another really good one that focused on Deudara's Narcissistic personality disorder, of how that at the same time he considers himself the greatest artist in the world but is extremily insecure around the sharingan and gets completely frustraded when someone don't show reverence to it.

Naruto doesn't have a one-track mind, neither does he think its "My way or the highway"
Obviously Naruto isn't going to accept Sasuke's plan, he doesn't have a one-track mind but he doesn't just bend over when someone wants to do something thats not for the greater good. Just because he stopped Sasuke from doing his plan, doesn't mean he has a one track mind, lets face it, Sasuke's plan was dumb and had a higher chance of failing.

Actually, Sasuke is more likely a sociopath, he's far more impulsive than simply a psychopath and his symptoms were onset by traumatic experiences.
