The media perpetuates that stereotype. I don't think I need to tell you that black people tend to have their skin colours lightened in magazines and what not. Of course, photoshopping people to look skinnier is also a thing.

You're right, but it's something that goes back much further and is much uglier than just magazine photoshop. It goes all the way back to slavery, which effects still linger manifesting themselves into these stereotypes and photoshoppings and tons of other stuff negative about blackness.

Lol @LB Trying to turn this into a racist/ stereotypical thread. I was just pointing out how I like her attitude :| I am black myself, dark skinned at that... Do you know the struggle of taking selfies without a lot of lighting?? Without proper lighting, I just wanna cry at the fact that I look like a damn shadow... Don't even get me started when I want to take a selfies at night with my friends, I can't be seen in any of em, unless it's my clothing and palms if my hand. My face wouldn't be seen unless I show my teeth, widen my eyes, and raise my eyebrows (which makes my complexion a tad lighter
