Remeber awhile back the uchiha faps started a rumor that Naruto lost Rikudou Sage Mode because he didn't use final form(Bijuu Mode + RSM) in the Last? That was quickly debunked because most believe RSM was linked to his Bijuu mode,he just combines them. He combined it with his Kurama Chakra Mode and Base which is why he was able to fly and combat the tenseigan.

Well now in the latest opener Naruto has RSM/BM active and oh how the table has turned cause guess what?! Sasuke lost his Rinnegan, stay rustled.

Naruto manga
Both Naruto & Sasuke power were given to them by the Sage himself.
They will activate their Sage given power when the situation required.
Just like what Bolt said to his dad he had cheat because of using that type of jutsu.
Uchiha only required to activate their eye by closing their normal eyes and open as sharingan eyes.
This is a simple logic that you had failed as being Naruto fan; or are you trying to destroy Naruto fans.

A doujutsu could be deactivated. Seeing it not active doesn't automatically means that it has been lost.

But if you're not using your most powerful technique when the world is at grave danger and facing destruction than it is logical to assume that power might have been lost.
