While there is objectivity in music, the discussion of music will forever be mostly subjective. Music is too diverse, complex and large in quantity for there to be one universal set of objective standards.
I could just easily point all the objective reasons for why rap is a great genre, for example, and it won't change your opinion on it because it's a subjective topic.
No, you're wrong.
My opinion about music is the correct one. You can have wrong opinions. If you think that murder is fine and dandy, then you have a wrong opinion. Likewise if you think that rap is a respectable genre of music that fosters poeticism and talent, the you're
wrong.
I am a LedHead for life. I will lick between the toes of every member of Alice and Chains just so that I can taste greatness. Yeah, that's real music. And that's an OBJECTIVE fact. The Beatles made Britain a modern musical Empire; they took over the world with their heart warming melodies and spunky harmonies. All hail rock and roll.
And don't even get me started on lyrical quality. I mean, just look at this.
Lyrics from the up-and-coming hip hop duo, Run the Jewels:
I put that **** in her mouth all day
She got that **** in her mouth all day
She take that **** in her mouth all day
NOW, let's compare it to a GOOD band like Guns and Roses:
I been thinkin' 'bout
Thinkin' 'bout ***
Always hungry for somethin'
That I haven't had yet
CLEARLY, the quality of the lyrics goes UP when it was written by TALENTED musicians who actually played instruments, because somehow, that has an effect on their ability to write. Oh, and don't even get me started on how good a person Axel Rose is. He has managed to take a rough, uncivilized topic like *** and turn it into a catchy masterpiece featuring a hella kazoo lead in, whilst Run the Jewels just repeatedly brags about their sloppy blowjobs. Not to menton that song was recorded with Gangsta Boo, and anything associated with Three 6 Mafia sucks. If you don't believe me, just remember that Juicy J exists.
