Kurama looked at the sealing jutsu and said something about Rikudo. He never referred to Naruto himself.
Shame we never explored more Fuuinjutsu in Naruto's area considering he is half Uzumaki. In early part two, Naruto actually used sealing scrolls and shit. None of that now.. :wesobi:

Being half Uzumaki doesn't really matter when there is no Uzumaki clan to teach him said jutsu, but I see your point.

He did? Lol

Constantly? There is only one panel that lets you make the argument that he was Rikudo's reincarnation, and even then it points toward a more obvious conclusion, him being Hagoromo's successor when it comes to the Bijuu. Hell, the stuff Obito said during his talk with Naruto makes it more possible that he was the younger son's reincarnation, and that is exactly what happened.
Not exactly. When the entire fan base is under the assumption that Naruto was Rikudou's reincarnation and the Viz even made it seem so, there's some kind of retcon. There was no foreshadowing of Naruto or Sasuke being the reincarnations of the brothers. It was more likely, given the actual dichotomy of the actual Senju and Uchiha (not with Naruto being an Uzumaki), that Madara and Hashirama were the only reincarnations. But for parallelism sake alongside renewed importance for Sasuke, I'm assuming it was retconned.

I agree on your first sentence, but I believe he would have had latent potential with Fuuinjutsu considering he had no knowledge of it, and then he sealed Kurama with Gates that mimicked Myōjinmon, and Kurama stated it to be similar to the Old man himself. So I thought it was an indication for future uses of it.

Yeah you would be surprised how Naruto was reduced to being a shinobi as the chapters continued. When he met Sai, he actually had a kunai in his sleeve to protect himself from the incoming blow. He actually acted like a shinobi, until things turned into a DBZ showoff.

Here is a panel I found while re-reading the manga:

Last time Naruto used a kunai, let alone a scroll? Can't remember Lol

/inb4 Pain fight. I don't believe he used the scroll to disrupt his clone.

It wasn't the entire fanbase though, and VIZ only had one panel where the Bijuu say that Naruto is the old man's......but they don't finish the sentence. Everyone who believed that he was the reincarnation of Hagoromo only jumped to the conclusion that he was going to say reincarnation, when they could easily have said something along the lines of successor.

And yes. There are things said that would point to them being reincarnations of the brothers, though you wouldn't come to that conclusion based on this info alone.

Naruto not being a Senju isn't relevant when, for the sake of the whole prophecy of their fight, he was considered to be on that side. Then there's the fact that Uzumaki are related to Senju. That's definitely more than there is for the assertion that Naruto is Hagoromo's reincarnation.

There can only be a retcon if Naruto was planned to be his reincarnation to begin with, but he obviously wasn't. When there's only one panel, a panel that has been misinterpreted, that supports the idea, there is no way the claim was solid enough to call a retcon once it didn't happen. Kishimoto said he'd long since planned the end of Naruto, and that his only thing left to do was write towards that end.

That's just a summoning scroll, not a sealing scroll.

@Trans

Most people jumped the gun because theories were flying around that the Sage was an Uzumaki. The manga never claimed that Naruto was the direct rebirth.

@Indra

That's just a common weapons summoning scroll. Sasuke has those seals on his wrist. Naruto has never used any Uzumaki sealing Jutsu.
