Kishi should make the novels canon.

Shikamaru's novel explains that the Villages have some sort of UN type thing going on.

That's a way better explanation than empathy and friendship.

Also, Kakashi admits he's weak without the Sharingan, but can still beat Lee.

Sucks that he won't, but some of the information does not make sense. So I understand why

I believe several chapters of the Shikamaru novel have been translated, and the Kakashi one as well.

Here's a link to some of the Shikamaru novel translations. [ ]

If Kishi makes them canon then that means the Blood Prison movie would also need to be canon. Which would cause a huge clusterfest.

The novels have a different version of Blood Prison's events.

Though the novel makes references to Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison, the details are different from the events that took place in the movie. Hōzuki Castle and Mui are both referenced as having been destroyed in a joint operation by Konohagakure and Kumogakure several years before this story takes place, and in this novel, Hōzuki Castle is stated to be within the Land of Waves.

OT: I also thought that was an interesting conflict they referenced, between ninjas and civilians. Even I haven't thought about this before.

Point is, the movie and the novels aren't set in the same universe. Thus, they don't exist in the same "canon".

So you are trying to say that the blood prison in the novel is a lot different then the one in the movie? I mean don't they work the same way?

Read that quote - in the novel canon, it's been destroyed a few years prior. It's just different versions of the same things; it's possible that the novel events were slightly modified to better fit the manga canon. Again, it's mostly us fans who worry about canoncity of fictional events, while the authors are free to manipulate them for their convenience.

Dude so its basically the same thing, except a more future timeline. Lol You made it sound like they drastically changed the version of the blood prison we saw in the movie.

@bold: While that may be true. No one would be reading this manga if it was just a filler for the main story.

Where did I say drastically? They probably removed the details that obviously contradicted the manga timeline (like Ay still having both arms after the Summit).

Also, I'm not a dude, and you should know that.

Novels are not written by Kishi iirc. If you think they are good, they are good for you and they do not have to be canon to be enjoyed.

Yet they still had the non canon place. Not sure how it would not cluster**** the story?

Also, I'm not a dude, and you should know that.

Calm down. I never called you a dude. Since I am a dude, I naturally say dude. So do you get it dude?

I don't see how mentioning one non-canon place ruins everything :| Also, I'm calm. Again, what made you think I wasn't?

OT: I prefer dividing everything into primarily and secondary canon, tbh. Primarily is what comes from Kishi. Secondary is any official info not by Kishi that doesn't contradict the manga. What contradicts the manga is alternate canon.
