When releasing the Yin seal, does the user use chakra to do it?

By using chakra = they're using the chakra in their seal to release it. Not their regular reserves. To release any seal it takes some ammount of chakra. But they're only using the sealed chakra in their forehead to release it. So technically it is using chakra but at the same time it isn't.

So if all their base chakra was gone or blocked they can still release it

So how is the chakra in the seal, sealed if they can access it without using their own chakra? It seems your saying they can release the seal by using the seals chakra.

Chakra in held in a certain point for 3 years then it becomes a seal, meaning the person no longer needs to focus chakra in one place. Its there forever.

They are directly linked to that chakra, nothing is stopping them from using their own chakra. Tsunade's transformation justu uses chakra directly from the seal, meaning she has direct access to the chakra without releasing it.

When it gets released then all of chakra flows out of the seal, which increases the user's power and allows for enough chakra for regeneration.

The use chakra to release the byakogou. And btw, the byakogou absorbs the user's life force so yes it uses chakra, but the effects won't appear until after long term usage.

So are you saying the chakra is not sealed?

It is sealed. What don't you understand?

Its a sealed chakra reserve. Chakra can still be used from the seal without opening the seal and using alot of it.

It's not hard.

So it's sealed but you can still use chakra inside the seal despite it being sealed off?

Okay, there are mainly 3 ideas in this discussion.

1. Byakugou is a normal seal, like a CHEST. Needs a command, like a KEY, to unlock it. This command may be chakra or otherwise, but most likely chakra since that's the answer to everything in Naruto. This is the consensus probably because the seal's mechanisms weren't exactly detailed in the manga.

2. Byakugou is a special seal (let's say HOLED CHEST) like the 8-Trigrams Sealing Method, which allows some chakra to leak out from the seal, while still keeping the majority sealed. This makes sense sine it was Uzumaki Mito who developed it. Moreover, this would allow the leaking chakra to be used as the KEY, thus negating the user him/herself needing to use their own. I personally feel this makes most sense as well.

3. Byakugou isn't actually a seal. It's a collection of chakra kept in place subconsciously that can be accessed at will. A special technique allows it to store more than the normal capacity of the user. I can't believe people are actually implying this. Either go with a normal seal or a special seal. Either requires chakra to unseal, with some leeway in the latter case.

Ah thank you, nice answers. I like option 2 the best. +rep

Does Naruto need to use chakra to access Kurama's Chakra?

So are you saying yin seal is a special seal? Since kurama chakra leaks out of Naruto's seal anyway.

If he physically wants to un-do the seal on his stomach, he uses chakra on his finger tips, no?

Different scenarios. I'm referring to him drawing on Kurama's chakra w/ the seal still on.

Kurama's chakra leaks out, but that doesn't change the fact that to enter modes, Naruto needs to draw on more. Kurama's chakra leaking out isn't what lets him draw on it. Yin Seal is a type of seal, so I wouldn't see why this should be any difference.

Byakugou is supposed to store it like a chest UNTIL it's released in it's entirety. Not much point in it if it constantly leaks chakra pointlessly. Like trying to fill a bucket with a hole in it. Plus the byakugou doesn't have a will of it's own, trying to escape. Think I countered you, if not quote me. Nice point though, I guess from what you gave. Can kinda see where you're coming from.

(This was meant be the start but I goofed) Naruto's seal is like a jail cell so Kurama's chakra could leak out, it's not like Naruto tried to stop it most of the time. His seal also weakened everytime as it wasn't supposed to happen like that.

Yeah but the chakra leaks out so it is not completely sealed of like a typical seal. Naruto asking for more chakra doesn't matter since the seal is allowing chakra to pass through anyway. Most times a seal is released, chakra is needed to release the seal, that can be in tags, markings, etc.

Whatever is chakra neeeded to release the seal will come from the seal as I already stated they have a direct link to the chakra.

Oh, just food for thought.

What if having their tenketsu (and thus chakra control) completely destabilized would actually release the seal on the spot (and uncontrollably) instead of disabling it like many would believe would happen?

The logic behind this thought is the stated mangafact that keeping the chakra in that spot requires constant focus (and chakra control) for as long as the user is storing chakra.

This would mean if base Sakura got hit by Hinata's 8T:64 Palms, then instead of actually being disabled, she'd power up. Pretty sure Sakura-base would like the idea.

Then again, Hinata's manga-implied 8T:64 Lion Fists would probably absorb the released chakra on the spot if such a fight occurred.
