Bandai Namco's fighting game Dragon Ball Xenoverse has shipped over 1.5 milllion copies worldwide, the publisher announced today. The figure makes sense, given that the game was the second most-sold PlayStation 4 title on the PlayStation Network last month, despite being released on February 24.

On the success of the game, producer Masayuki Hirano said, "I would like to thank everyone for their support on this new challenge. We decided to take a risk and create a completely new concept to entertain our fans and Dragon Ball lovers and we are quite proud of the successful result!"

The first downloadable content pack for Dragon Ball Xenoverse is now available on Steam and the Xbox Market Place, and will be available on the PlayStation Network on March 18. The game's launch wasn't all smooth sailing however, with servers woes causing multiplayer issues early on.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is not the only game to have breached new milestones as of late. Simulation game Cities: Skylines shifted more than half a million copies a week after it launched, as did Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask.

"create a completely new concept to entertain our fans and Dragon Ball lovers "

Isn't this game just the same concept as Dragon Ball Online with a slightly varied story and character creation?

It is indeed, but it's certainly better then it sounds. A creative variation to the story, i never would have thought this would work out you know? the whole "Time distortion" crap, but it worked out pretty well. Character creation is a feature the lot of us have been wanting for quite some time now, i'v always wanted to create my own DBZ character, my own villain-like evil alien character created out of my own imagination except for a few limitations tho, but it's a great step forward.

The combat in this game is a tweaked version of the combat in Battle of Z which ultimately sucked big time, to the point i almost felt the need to break my tv. But in Xenoverse it works out fine, it's great tbh. i felt satisfied with every strike i laid on my opponent and it actually felt like i was controlling my character unlike in Ultimate tenkaichi, where it felt like all you were doing was triggering cut scenes with every button you press, p.s the repetitive combat was very annoying throughout the entire game i felt as if i were watching a dbz remastered 3d edition with terrible lip-syncing and delayed in-game animations response time and triggering some optional combat cutscenes along the way. I didn't enjoy it, not one bit. Dbz XV is the first DBZ game i've enjoyed in a long long time after Ultimate tenkaichi 3.
