How do you even learn the 8th Gate?

If it kills you, you can't practice it to learn it and your sensei can't demonstrate it to you to teach you how to do it. Do you just have to learn the principles and pray it was right come time to find out? Or do you just automatically get the ability to open it when you learn to open the 7th? I know we can't know so what's your opinions? How does one actually go about learning how to open the 8th Gate before needing to open it?

Same way as the other gates, forcing open that teigetsu spot. Just need to train to be able to force open the teigetsu spot, I believe the techniques are not really special (most of them are just kicks and punches, albeit they are pushed to the extreme). IRC mid day tiger is just a punch.

I thought about it as well. Naruto saved Gai before 8 gates run out so maybe he actually opens while learning but doesn't using it and closing right after.

I'd assume it would be the equivilant to weight training. Train with 30lb dumb bells long enough and you won't need to pick a 50lb dumb bell to know you could lift it. Atleast that's the way I think it goes
