Hmm.... Ireland looked like a minnow team today. Granted India's batting is strong so they can get away with it. I just expected a bit more from them.

Dhawan has found form-which is good for India. Anyway, I still believe Ireland deserves to be given Test status in the somewhat distant future.

Dhawan is a freak of a batsmen. I think he pushes above his weight with the strature he has.
Now getting back to Ireland, I do believe they deserve a test status. However there bowling really needs to pick up against tougher teams. I think both Ireland and Afganistan need to work on there weak links more so they become a reasonable tough team. These two teams are like half a completed teams. There one area is so good that any side would welcome there players into there sides. Where as there weak links are so bad that keep them minnows still.

They had good partnerships but couldn't finish it and they looked feeling lot of pressure today maybe it's because lack of experience and probably they must get more chances to play against good teams

I think they have the batsmen. They just need the bowlers. Also we cannot forget few drop catches in there fielding. You can't miss those against big teams. I am hopeful they give Pakistan a cracking game.

The funny thing is some experts are actually favoring them to pull a upset. Who is to blame them anyways? Pakistan is such a unpredictable team.

Pakistan did win against South Africa and if Ireland could win against Pakistan then it will be their best achievement probably they deserve it if they can pull it off and Pakistan is so unpredictable can't say a thing about them Lol

Agreed.
So far the most boring games played in this tournament have been UAE games. They have been completly one sided games where the UAE did not even try to win. Why bother with amatuer teams like these?

ICC must change it's mindset about associate nation like Ireland and Afghanistan . Irish team is putting up better shown than England in this world cup and i feel standard of this world cup was not completely one sided against Minnows.

How about instead of relying on the World Cup. Why not give these associates some international series instead. So they get a chance to develope till the next World Cup?

Yes it could be done in that way by arranging triseries tournaments rather than bilateral ones . Bilateral series hardly excites me unless if it is Ashes ones . I find Subcontinent cricket matches a bit dull , the outcome of the game is already foreseen .

They should have a tri-series between Afganistan, Scotland and Ireland. Maybe add Pakistan in the mix to make it more exciting.

Ya If you are touring England : Irish and scotland should be given a chance .
UAE could play Pakistan and Afghanistan in Abudhabi .
I believe Triseries is the only answer to this problem . The ridiculous Future Tour program is nonsense , they even knocked off Gily's Olympic push . Scared of Chinese , German and Dutch sides if they see Cricket as money making potential .

I agree. I truly believe Pakistan and England can save world cricket by developing these teams. I have seen immense improvements between them. Although England need to stop snatching players. Like they did with Ireland.
I think each test nation should train atleast two associate teams. That way we get more competitive teams to see
There is another associate team that I really see potiential in and that is Nepal. India should try helping them in there cricket. They are a very passionate bunch.
I would also like to add, some nations actually benefit from getting this worldly exposer. Like teams like Afganistan are seen in a great light now thanks to cricket.
Cricket by itself has immense potiential of being a main sport for many countries. I have no idea why ICC never tried to spread it? I mean imagine a China cricket team coming into the world of cricket. It would bring lots of money if it gets popular there.

I believe Hockey is the answer , Indian, Pakistan and other subcontinent nation were dominant for many years , The recent trend is up side down it is seen that Argentines , Belgium and German and dutch play better than them . India and other subcontinent nation fears nation such as Germany,China and Netherlands will make it Euro - Asian Centric game .
ICC is the only administration that made india and Pakistan a powerful member . Just think if Bully like Chinese and Germans enter into ICC they will bulldoze the subcontinent nation . I hardly associate England with Cricket . Sad to inform you British media and public associate Cricket as a "Rich man's sport" or "Her Majesty's Elite game "
You will never see a down to earth player like Linekar , Rooney and Beckham in English Cricket Squad . KP and Bell are only exception .

I doubt China or Germany coming into cricket will wash away Pakistan or India. The passion is still strong in these two countries. It won't go away that easily.
