I was just wondering because of another thread, about all the things akatsuki did to make money. It was never really explained fully. Personally, I think if Naruto ever had a miniseries that was aimed towards an older audience that went in depth of all Akatsuki's shenanigans, we would learn they did some pretty dark stuff. I'm thinking pimping (Konan perhaps?), slave trading, drug dealing like Gato, pillaging, etc. I don't buy the simple answer of Kakuzu shared his money, seems too PG rated.

They were mercenaries so assassinations, kidnappings, extortion, robberies would make sense.
And Deidara used to get paid to set bombs off

I don't think they pimp considering Obito and Nagato's background.

Nah Danzo was a fanatic, Tobirama was just extremely rational but he still weighed the pros and cons. Danzo was an idiot that only thought of power which is why Sasuke whipped him like a donkey.

Not true. Hidan's immortality is not linked with the jutsu though it would have been better. Kishi said he is immortal as long as he takes his daily vitamins. Sasori is obsessed with his "art" so he doesnt give a shit about other people's lives. If you're a beast, he is going to hunt u down and place u into his "collection".

So WHy did Hidan and Sasori join Akatsuki? Probably to make more puppets and kill more people under the wings of Pein.
