In a past manga chapter,it showed when tsunade stated that kushina uzumaki is somewhere in the whirlpool village.i may have this wrong as my memory is vague at the moment but i believe that she is alive

Not likely If She did not die the night of the nine tail attack, then Danzo might have done Her in for being an outsider the way He had Itachi kill His own clan. Most mothers will never willingly abandon their children.

What Naruto might do in the Future is go to the Land of Whirlpool to see if He has any living relatives left. This might bring some closure to the story.
