Last night i was reading an articule online about apple using programmed obselence in their devices , the term of programmed obselence means that the objects already have an expiration date like phones an example would be: let's say you buy the new iphone but after a certain amount of time the iphone stops working properly so that encorages you to buy the newer version of the iphone, basically programmed obsolence is said to be used by companies like apple or other with the goal of keeping the people consuming their products.
Now let me explain my own experience with apple, a few years back i had an iphone 4, by that time the iphone 5 had just come out and when the iphone 5 came out so did the new software update ios 7, so i decided i would update my iphone 4 with the ios 7 and i when i did, my iphone outright stopped working, it didnt get sluggish or so, it got totally ruined, i couldnt even turn on the iphone anymore the only thing i could do was to put it in DFU mode and try to restore it but it always gave me a error message. So i decided to take it to an expert to fix it, then they couldnt do it, so i took the iphone to like 6 or 7 different places and they all told me my iphone was nothing more than a fancy brick after that i gave up.
Granted the new software updates are supposed to be aimed for the newer models like the iphone 5 at the time and older models may not run it as well as the newer ones, but why then if apple knew the software update may not work or ruin an older device, why itunes suggests you that you update the software knowing that it may ruin the device? after all itunes knows you have an iphone 4, it appears on screen "iphone 4" everytime you plugg your iphone to itunes and itunes anyway prompts you to update , also, why itunes doesnt give you any warnings like: this update may damage devices like iphones 4s or older? it wouldnt take more than 2 lines to give you a warning about it.
Also if they're not doing this on purpose then, why once you update the software you can no longer downgrade it to the older version if the newer one is not working.
After a little research i made i found out i wasnt the only one who got my iphone ruined with the new update. That's what makes me suspicious about companies like apple building their devices with programmed obsolence or that they sabotage their older devices with software updates so that once is ruined you buy the newer model. After all, this could have been avoided by putting a simple warning when you try to update, then if you update your device in spite of the warning is at your own risk, but they didnt.
Even though i have no proves that they're doing it on purpuse i find it kind of suspicios , that's why i no longer consume any apple products and never undate the software of my devices like my cellphone, computer as long as the apps i like to use still work. Also somene gave me an advice if a new iphone just came out and you have an older iphone version and want to update the software to the new one that came along with the new iphone, it isnt problably a good idea to do it.
If we no longer keep playing their game they'll eventually stop, sometimes i see people with new and expensive phones and they barely make ends meet but they have the new iphone or new samdung galaxy and they make you wonder if having a cellphone for them is more important than eating. Let us try not to fall in their games after all your pocket and the planet will thank you for that because you will be making less garbage therefore less polution.
