Finally an actual confirmation, so it is probably canon in some form. I wonder if SP are going to animated these novels, im expecting a large amount of fillers after the war.

He said: Kishi also had involvement in the movie Road to Ninja just as much as he did in The Last, and the former still was not considered canon. And you are correct, The Last being canon had to be, for lack of better phraseology, proven out the ass and flat-out stated by Kishi to be connected to the manga before the wiki considered it canon. So I am not sure about these novels being canon.

Another comment: Well, canon is normally defined as anything that is included in the main story. Kakashi Gaiden is not canon, for example. Anything that expands from the main story is not canon, for example movies, side stories and filler.

As least that's how I understand it. What the author says about it is not that relevant. The tenth movie isn't canon because Kishimoto said so, but because it's included in the main story as chapter 699.5 and the events in the movie are part of the plot (same as Kakashi Gaiden).
