On NF, OD confirms that Shikamaru is 19 years old. You just should ask your friend if it's before or after The Last?

I mean, Kakashi is not that popular in the west compared to Japan.

The novel sold out in bookstores on the first day. They announced a second printing of it already.

I mean, of course people who are into shipping are going to get this done. No one is a rabid enough Kakashi fanboy/fangirl to do the novel for the romance. You do it because Kakashi is awesome.
