Thanks for sharing :)

I'd actually be interested in reading Shikamaru's novel and the Akatsuki's; the others, not so much.

Here's some things I've seen in regards to the Shikamaru one:
-Shikamaru Hiden: Floating Clouds in the Silence of Darkness

-Everywhere post-war, there’s been an outbreak of multiple incidents of shinobi (who have) disappeared. Even in Konoha, Sai has vanished…The shinobi who disappeared went towards an enigmatic and developing nation called “The Country of Silence”. Shikamaru accepts the mission to assassinate the head of the “Country of Silence”. What did he see there…? The greatest battle of Nara Shikamaru will be depicted in the second book in the Hiden series!

-Confrontation (/showdown) with the strongest genjutsu user!!

Thanks for posting the preview scans.
This novel has to contain some shikatema moments, and some team 10 moments. I can't wait for this book to be translated.

I'm really excited for this novel, and the konoha one

Thanks for posting that summary! We got that a few days ago but I didn't want to look for a translation of it again.

I'm clueless as to how of all things we could cover with his character we have to make him go on some seemingly irrelevant mission but eh, I am really curious about it.

OrganicDinosaur on reddit posted a new summary:

いつごろからだろうか「めんどーくせぇ」と言わなくなったのは……? 忍界大戦から二年、木ノ葉の重要人物として、シカマルは日々を慌ただしく過ごしていた。ある日、各地から忍が大量失踪しているという報告が入る。サイも消えた。消えた忍の行く先は、謎めいた『黙の国』。そこに潜む者は、一体…? 忍として、大人として、背負うものを守るため、シカマルは新たな時代の影と戦うことになる。

Wondering since when did he not say "It's troublesome"....? Two years since the Great Shinobi World War, as a key figure (/important person) of Konoha, Shikamaru spent everyday being busy. One day, he received a report that everywhere, a large number of shinobi disappeared. Sai also has disappeared. The destination of the shinobi who have disappeared is the enigmatic "Country of Silence". Who is lurking there...? As a shinobi, as an adult, and in defence of something that he is burdened with. It will be a battle of Shikamaru with the shadow of a new era.
the 影=kage is shadow, not referring to the position.

OD also confirmed Sand Village will be featured in the novel:

Previously tweeted that Sunagakure (Sand Village) will be involved in the novel (along with Konohagakure) via [JumpJBooks] tweet~

She also said this:

Digital edition from the official Naruto app is not updated yet~ But should be available to download shortly~~ I am waiting to read from the HQ ;__;';;~~ I'm expecting roughly ~11 pages.

The pic is probably too blurry for her to read. I'm having problems with barely get through a few letters. but I imagine OD probably already got through it just missing a few words. That's probs why there's no translation yet. But I spot Shikaku, Naruto, and Kakashi's names in the raw. No Temari.

Ever since the summary came out I've been speculating with my friends that also ship ShikaTema on how Temari could possibly get involved in this and I've thrown out there completely awful ideas such as her meeting up with him on the mission and then proceeding to knit a scarf the entire time or that she ends up secretly being the person he's supposed to assassinate. I'm prepared for the worst. It's nice to know that Suna itself is going to be somehow involved though.

Shipping aside, I'm really hoping that we see some interactions between him and Mirai (Kurenai's daughter). You can't just not include that.

I don't think anything is confirmed with her yet. I mean, Sand Village could just mean meeting up with Gaara, so I don't expect anything.

Word from OD on NF:

I can read about 70% of it for sure. But the Naruto app hasn't updated yet with the digital version. So I'd rather wait for that and confirm all the kanji from that blurry image before I write up a summary or translate.

......So she already knows what happened!! She might be doing Kakashi novel stuff first though.

That's true, although considering that it's not like he has any real ties with Suna aside from the fact the the person whom he ended up having a kid with happens to be from there, I can't imagine that she wouldn't get involved in one way or another.

Then again Sai is supposedly going to be relevant for whatever reason, so who knows.

I'll be looking forward to what OD has to say. :) Hopefully the app updates soon.

OrganicDinosaur JUST posted screencaptures of her digital raw to reddit. 25 pages!!!

THIS GOIN' BE GOOD.

OD on NF says:

I can finally read everything clearly.

The online edition has extended content. They posted the first chapter, which is called 木ノ葉// "Konoha".

Now to decide if I should summarize...or translate... OTL~~~

I mean, i think there will be ShikaTema fans who might beat me to posting a translation first. In that case, maybe I should stick to Kakashi novel things?

To be completely honest, I like the Kakashi novel more than this one. Though it's only one chapter...I shouldn't be so harsh to judge~~~

Any other translators on NF planning to add this to their project? You know, before we double up on it.

Does that mean she doesn't like it!?!? Noooooooo.

Safe to say that she knows what happened already then. And now we wait....

EDIT: OD HAS SPOKEN THIS IMPORTANT FACT:

There's a lot of repetition of old info (who Sai is, Hokage history). In this novel, Kakashi is the reigning Hokage already.

...I just wanted to share this description of Kakashi's Hokage Monument from page 7:

針金のような髪の毛の下に眠たそうな目。鼻筋が通った整った顔立ちの下半分がマスクで覆われている

Under the wire-like hair, there seemed to be sleepy eyes. The bridge of the nose protruding, with well-featured (/chiseled) looks that were concealed by a mask on the lower half (of his face).

(....I haven't come across Kakashi's fine facial features being described like that in his own novel yet~ Oh my!~~)

Huh. Maybe that's why OD said she didn't like the excerpt very much? There's not much new info?

Seems like Kakashi is indeed one handsome dude.

Even if OD won't be translating the whole thing, I know a few people that'd be willing to translate anything noteworthy.

Shikamaru didn't outright refer to Temari by name but he did indirectly refer to her as some kunoichi he was pitted against during the chunin exams so there's that at least. Lol

Looking at it myself, I'm able to read katakana at least and I spy Mirai's name in there. Good.

Organic Dinosaur and Seelentau on NF disagree about Shikamaru's age being confirmed. It's just an estimate for now:

Hmm, can you confirm that Shikamaru is 19 years old? I can't find anything that says so. :s
I mean, it does say that two years have passed since the war, but that mustn't mean that Shikamaru's 19 already.

It only confirms that it's 2 years after the end of the war. it does not explicitly say "19 years old" in the raw. I think the tumblr translator just extrapolated from his Part II age (17?).

I don't remember reading what month it was in the excerpt. But age 19/20 is just conjecture, not confirmed.

Thought so, thanks. He could be either 18 or 19, but not 20. :3

The wikia says he's 19 in the Last? If it's past September of that year, then he would be 20?

I don't get a conclusive feeling that this novel is after the events of the Last (which is also two years later) I'm assuming it is before.....it doesn't mention anything that makes me interpret that the timeframe is after Toneri's mission.

Can you ask your friend if it's before or after the Last?

I was hoping OD would do a summary, just because she's pretty neutral in her summaries and goes in depth :(

Looks like she's going to step back and let another translator handle it.

I'm so sad. OD version will always be the best version in my mind. Just because I'm worried that shippers are going to twist it in the ShikaTema direction.

I hope this tumblr translator is good!

We're shippers yeah, but she hates spreading misinformation so I trust her to not twist anything. Whenever I talk to her on Skype about how she translates things she tends to go in depth on her reasons for why she translates things that way.

I'll ask her about the age thing though.

Yeah. I think it doesn't matter whether or not you're a hardcore shipper as long as you give an objective translation. It's good that your friend seems dedicated. I'll look forward to reading it.

I mean, OD calls out plenty of people on any misinformation. I doubt your friend will twist things, but since there are other translators reading it, they can't lie about anything for too long. Seelentau runs the Naruto Wiki pages...so he has the final word and is the most skeptical of any new info.

So there's two pretty prominent translators that can easily confirm or deny mistranslations.

It's a pity that this novel isn't getting the attention it deserves as it doesn't feature heavy weights characters but I am looking forward to more of it
