Madara needed a lot to match Hashirama.

-Gain Rinnegan

-Get Edo'd past his prime

just to beat a guy who probably reached his peak in power ages ago.

No, the reason hashirama edged him out a lot was because of their chakra reserves...hashirama had more so he could just about outlast him. They both had the same destructive capabilities though. Rinnegan madara was way too OP too

so you are saying unlocking the strongest doujutsu is not much? hmmm ok. i think you are being bias. he did have to die, revive himself, and anchor himself to hashirama's cells to stay alive long enough to unlock it. he went thought alot to get the rinnegan. that was not an easy feat.

Well, most of the power he gained was through usurpation. That's why he ended up the way he did.
