Why do people think a bigger AoE equals a stronger attack?

I've seen this in debates. An attack with a small aoe can have a "stronger" damage than a attack with a wide aoe.

Larger the Aoe=Harder to avoid.

Not saying this logic is correct.

But it's why Susanoo slash and TBB are so praised.

Debatable

Small Aoe tends to be:

More precise
Easier to avoid
More concentrated
Low chance in blocking the brunt
Easier to dodge
Speed (dependent)

Large Aoe tends to be:

Harder to dodge altogether
More Destructive
Higher chance to dodge the brunt
Speed(Dependent)
Higher change of blocking
Less concentrated

Logically if I can blow up your entire body that does more damage than stabbing you in the heart

But if u speak of rasengan vs chidori then it should be noted rasengan can't kill for shit it's more of a blunt force trauma while chidori is a numbing and piercing type

Its about potency, people.
For example, Vegeta's big bang attack is island/country AoE, but is small star level in potency.

For example, in the right circumstance, minato can OWN hashirma. A throat slash is still a throat slash...

Give us the examples you are talking about.
Okay, Kaguya's vacuum fists. Small aoe but it can bust through sasukes rikudou enhanced PS while a senjutsu bijuudama(wide area effect) from naruto couldn't even breach sasuke's PS. Meaning the vacuum fists have a stronger attack potency.

That depends on the attack and its properties as well

For example, Senpō: Goemon is a strong attack mostly because it has a large AoE (other than the fact that it's burning oil). With a smaller AoE, it wouldn't be as effective.

Yup. But it is due to the fact Kaguya's chakra is also stronger. But similarly, how Perfect Susanoo's sword cuts down mountains.

AOE =/= Damage

Madara detonated a Hirudora directly in front of Gai's face. The explosion was huge, yet Gai only damaged a few ribs and was still going.
Naruto's Lava Rasenshuriken Bursted to the point it bisected the Shinjuu, yet Juudara was not fully sliced.

Stronger damage=/=Stronger attack, and the attack with the larger AoE is usually stronger, but that doesn't mean it deals the most damage.

Tenpenchii>Bijuu Dama, yet the cloaked fodders tanked Tenpenchii, while Bijuu Dama obliterates constructs much stronger. That's because Tenpenchii's energy is so spread out, that the damage dealt to the shinobi was much smaller than the actual total yield.

But some people have survived getting blown up before

Not a single soul has survived a heart stab

Distance: 500 ft
would you rather take A shotgun shot or a sniper shot?
