I don't understand everyones complaints, all FF games have been different from each other, and in massive ways, like FF8 you didn't have mana, you had to draw magic, and then there was the junction system. All FF games have their own quirks and systems, thats what makes the FF series so great, it's not just recycled garbage, each game feels like a different game, but maintains the FF nostalgia, i agree this game is very different, it is linear, i don't even know if there's a world map, but it's good none the less, it's more story orientated, they've removed the possibility to grind, so that the game is actually challenging, and so that you get the full wack of the story with no distractions, my brother got the guide and all that stuff comes afterwards, all the secrets and exploring. It's all about the story line, like a good FF should be.

on the battle system, at first it's abit annoying, only being able to control one character, but once you know what your doing, it becomes fun, it can be very hectic.

You get fully healed after every battle. How is that challenging? And it not good for a game to be completely story-oriented when the story is, you know, horrible. The fact that the sales of the game dropped so badly after the fifth week in Japan that stores started selling it at $20 speaks for itself.

Another stupid thing is the reason the developers' own reason why they have you go down one straight line all the time: It's too hard to make cities in HD. What about all the other companies that made games this generation and had cities that you could move around in?

Maybe people started selling the game for 20$ a pop because at that point there were no more people left to buy it. The game shattered previous software sales records on the PS3. Within 4 days it had climbed over 1 million copies sold, and within the week of its release it had outsold the previous #1 seller MGS4.

I think that speaks for itself. :|

With the whole healing thing, either way you don't have mana, so once your out of battle you'd just be able to fully heal no problem, but, later on in the game, some fights can be difficult, especially when you get stuck with a character you haven't bothered looking after.

And by comparison, my favourite FF game, is 8, and i haven no challenge in that game, i can have my main char doing 9999 damage per hit before i'm half way through the first disk, it's way too easy, and thats the same with most of the previous FF games, it would appear to me that 13 has taken alot of features from lost odyssey.
