Thats quite prevalent among the teens. Dont be judgemental about this, just help him out in some way,he must be having a hard time dealing with life.

Life problems. obvious answer, do something, that's yo fresh blood.
He's hospitalized right now but he has been doing this for months behind his family's back. And I really don't know who to talk to with this.
But I might just set a therapist appointment.

Well you're his bro, and bros always stick out for each other. Find out why he's doing this, and tell him help is available and that you're always by his side as a big brother.

It means he's dealing with something that he doesn't know how to cope with. Yes he does need help because obviously trying to do it on his own didn't work. Don't let the focus be on the cutting itself but on the source of the problem, which is hard because maybe he doesn't even know or understand himself what it is. Good job in thinking a professional's help is what is needed. A lot of people resort to cutting who have stopped so it's not like there isn't a lot that we know about the behavior.

Its a form of self-harm. It occurs when a human is dissatisfied with their present condition. Humans who usually blame themselves for things get angry at their selves, and unfortunately, begin to harm themselves.

Its a way for people to "punish" themselves for something that has happened.

Do not ignore it. This may be just phase, but at the same time, it may be something more serious.

I would try to counsel him at first, if nothing works, IMMEDIATELY seek professional help.
