If just watching the drawings period gets you made fun of, what's thinking the drawings are actually attractive going to be like? So, these people make fun of those who find it attractive. Not only that, but it's catharsis. By making fun of those who acknowledge the aesthetically pleasing side of art, it makes them feel better about just watching the drawings. "I may be a nerd, but at least I'm not as bad as that hentai watching guy." Making fun of them for it is just reassurance of this thought.

It depends on how a person's imagination works, I guess. For example, my imagination is really vivid, and I always have mental images of characters that make then look realistic. I imagine everything, even stuff like skin texture, hair structure etc. So to me, fictional characters can appear quite lifelike. But I know that others don't do that, and it's fine.

A drawing of semi realistic female body is not much different than a real female body, horniness and erections don't discriminate against whether something is real or not. Agreed. I think you're going too far when you become physically or sexually attracted to a fictional character. There is a fine line between fiction and reality. That's one of the reasons why I don't support hentai animes.
