"I don't find drawings attractive"
"What's so pretty about ink?"
You often see these replies in a thread comparing the appearance of characters.
Most character designs are based on humans. If we can find physical attractiveness in real people, why can't we do the same for fictional characters when the latter is modelled off from the former? After all, character designs are a work of art and art can be beautiful. A lot of artists intentionally design characters to be physically attractive to boost the quality or popularity of their work.
So what are your thoughts on this? Do you think it is okay for people to find fictional characters physically attractive?
Note: When I say physically attractive, I mean being attractive to the physical appearances of the person alone. I’m not talking about the physical/sexual attraction where there is a desire to be physically close with someone, more like aesthetic attraction where the relationship isn’t that deep.
