wut.... I didn't know Canada was so damn big.:what:
I thought it was slightly larger than California.

I mean't it's size, I always thought it was much smaller.

I love that we are learning things about one another. That was one of my hopes for this thread.

Yeah and they're an independent country too I believe.

It is an injustice to the Canadian people. Canada is a wonderful country. At least one US citizen can see that. I believe one day Canada will be seen in a much more sophisticated light.
How is Canada portrayed?
I've never heard anything about it as a country.. All I'm aware of is that it is often mistaken for the US..

Every time someone speaks of this "Prime Minister" I can't help but get offended.
OT: I want a wall of text, that is all.:coffee: Tell me about this "Minister.":coffee:

I still don't understand how Canada is a country though.
It's larger than the United States...

Well he is just... corrupted. Mainly his cabinet. They extorted money behind the parliaments back and Harper didn't do anything about it at all (Stephen Harper is the Prime Minister). Ever since he got into office (I believe it was 2007), we've steadily been on the decline from out surplus and living status. We were number one for 8 straight years on the HDI index (2000-2008) for living conditions and since then we've dropped since he got into office. We also had a surplus before he got into office and we've been in a federal deficit for the last while and he's done nothing to help the budget. The only positive thing in recent memory that I can think of from him is that when the massive recession hit the world economy seven years ago, we came out of the recession more positive and faster than any other country.

And how aren't we different than America? Superior Health Care, better earnings per capita, more land, we don't try to play God with other people's countries unless asked to (Bush!), less poverty, more cultural diversity, better foreign affairs, less racism if not none at all etc. There's so much better. They have more people and more debt and out country is larger even when you factor in Alaska and Hawaii for America.

I am trying to avoid people arguing. But I can definitely see your point. Your country's image has been smothered by the US. I am sorry for this injustice, but I am only a citizen of the US, and I hope you don't hate me for being so.

Haha, it's okay! I don't judge people from a country based on the countries actions. Only on the individuals actions. You seem like a nice guy man! It's not your fault at all so don't feel the need to apologize for it.

There's a lot to love about Canada. Lots of cultural diversity, openness, generally intelligent people and we have lots of land. My only qualm is our somewhat corrupt Prime Minister who I can't stand. I could write you an essay of what he's done to our country and what's so wrong about it, but then you'd be reading a massive wall and I don't know if you'd want that. Generally, I think we're the more tame side of the western world, but I still hate how much the US has influence over some people here. We have so many things superior to them (and many that are not for reference) but constantly people from other countries don't even think we're our own country even though we have a superior constitution and better foreign relations.
In my eyes Canada and Australia seem great compared to the U.S.

I have heard it is cold but from minorities they say its full of whites, many mistake it for being part of the U.S. and then there's Justin Beiber

They aren't seen very highly here in the US. They are seen as just "nice" people to most US citizens...there is more to it than that. They are brilliant people who are just as great and proud of their country and it's accomplishments, as any other country in the world. They just really aren't seen as a powerful country, and they should be.

Yeah.. I had no clue about that.. I'm starting to question how I missed such a massive mass of land stuck onto the US without any states that I could identify..

Well foreignly, for the people who know about us (Lol); put an American flag on your luggage when visiting a foreign country and then do the same thing but with a Canadian flag. You'll be frowned upon because of American affairs, but you'll be tended to with smiling faces with a Canadian flag. Only ignorant people mistake us for the US. Our constitution and even our government is fundamentally different (3 main parties versus just two which gives more room for actual governmental reform).

That sucks, even Denmark gets more credit than that.
I don't understand why Canada has such a small identity.

Germany is amazing. People in here have in general no problems with different sexual orientations (pretty much no one thinks it's a choice) and the majority has nothing against foreigners and different religions etc. It always saddens me to hear how many problems people in other countries have with things like these.
I know that this was a long time ago and Germany is much different now but my uncle was bullied so much at school that he now has a mental illness all because he was different.

Because we don't really meddle and negative things don't really happen here all too often. We get targeted sometimes because of the NATO affiliation to the US and being neighbours but we don't do it on purpose. And Denmark and all those countries get supposedly more credit because more people talk about Europe than pretty much everything else (besides MAYBE the US) and things like the recession and the failing economy in countries like Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece etc, all bring light to that area. So Denmark by extension will be given more time in the limelight because they're part of a broken down but beautiful continent.

The thing I don't like about Canada is that whenever there is an event in the world we always tries to make a Canadian connection. It's probably like that everywhere though.

Three main parties sounds much better. Perhaps if we had a similar system we wouldn't have had had a government shutdown a while back. I didn't even realize Canada had three main parties. :) Thank you for teaching me something new!

Justin Beiber is from Canada?

Everyone and their dog knows that. Mr Bieber doesn't fit the Canadian stereotype well, though. Someone like Carly Rae Jepsen is a little better in that regard.
