Using Preta Path forms a BOUNDARY around the user, and so anything that goes past it is IMMEDIATELY ABSORBED and rendered ineffective. You can see this BOUNDARY here:

Notice that as soon as it PENETRATES the CIRCULAR ENVELOP it immediately DISFIGURES and is loses its EFFECT

The Yata Mirror was an ethereal shield wielded by the left arm of Itachi's Susanoo. It is said to be endowed with all nature transformations and able to change its characteristics to any nature transformation to completely negate any attack, whether it be spiritual, or physical.

Why Yata Mirror is weak against Sword of Nunoboko




Indeed, seeing as databook and wiki clearly agree that Yata mirror changes its chakra type to negate a jutsu, guess what happens to negate that chakra transformation? That's right, you guessed it! Sword of Nunoboko is made from truth seeking balls

, and these truth seeking balls are capable of negating any type of the five chakra types (earth water lightning wind fire), all except senjutsu - which the yata mirror does not have. So basically when these two weapons clash Nunoboko will wipe this shield of its abilities, and it will be nothing more than a regular shield.

But with the sword of nunoboku, wouldn't the Yata mirror change it's characteristics to match the nature of it. It is just a combination of all 5 elements, so the yata mirror would change into the same characteristics. And by doing so, it would negate the attack

Preta maybe able to absorb any chakra "within" Yata and if so, a "worn in" Rinnegan which can absorb and expel chakra simultaneously could potentially negate Yata.

There are ifs though.

But I agree that the weapons are far from invincible. Totsuka was given to Itachi because kishi had to rid Sasuke of Orochimaru, and the magic sword was his best choice. Yata doesn't have any impressive feats. Best feats are repelling Sasuke's sword and paper bombs Lol. Those weapons doesn't really give him any advantage against the top 10.
