That is correct, right from the beginning. :)
Alrighty... *closes book*

Tell me a bit about water. Note that I don't want any scientific answers for this, I want answers that revolve around Naruto.

What element is it strong against? Weak against?

What types of attacks are it useful for, or is it more useful for defense and moving around the battlefield?

And finally, as you know, different chakra concentration requires a different state of mind, for example, lightning would require a quick-thinking and direct state of mind. So what state of mind do you think would be required to do the best job possible when performing suiton jutsu.

Hmmm....

First, water is strong against fire, but it is weak against earth.

It can be used for a variety of attacks. It can be used to flood the area with water, imprison an enemy and drown them, crush them with sheer volume, or carry them away in a torrent. Defensively it can be used to dowse flames and carry the user away from an incoming attack.

Water requires a very fluid mindset. It needs the thoughts to flow smoothly through the mind in an almost tranquil manner.

Great job. ^_^ Um... *scratches head*

Not much that I can correct about it. This'll be a pretty easy training session if you keep this up.

Ok, so first we have to do a few exercises. First off, do you know the water walking technique? If not, we'll start with that since it doesn't require any control over water at all.

I believe I've done some chakra control before, but I don't recall walking on water. So I guess we should start there. :p
Okey dokey then.

Essentially, the water walking jutsu, like I said, has absolutely nothing to do with water chakra. Simply put, you're controlling your chakra so that it almost works as if you have invisible planks on your feet that allow you to float above the water. We'll start in a lake, since rivers would move to much.

*points to the large nearby lake* Focus your chakra into your feet before you step on the water. Once you've focused the chakra, allow it to connect with the water when you step on it, linking you with the water but also putting something below your feet so that you don't fall in. Be careful, you'll probably fall in quite a few times before you get it.

I approach the edge of the water and stare down at my reflection. Putting my hands together I begin to focus my chakra, pushing it down to the bottom of my feet. After focusing a layer of chakra onto the underside of my feet I slowly lift my foot and place it atop the surface of the water. I allow the chakra to merge slightly with the water making sure that while its connects to the water, it doesn't leave my foot. I then attempt to bring my other foot onto the water, doing the same thing as with the other.

*As soon as you put the second foot on the water, you fall right into the water.*

Hm... ok, I mislead you a bit there. :| Running two seperate sources of chakra is a very advanced thing to try, something that only a few ninja can do. By focusing two chakra sources, you risk making one of them, or even both of them, deplete because you're attempting to keep two different lines of chakra alive.

Instead, try to focus the chakra in a pool under your feet, or try to connect them in some way such as that. It'll be a bit more difficult for you to move than someone who can focus two different lines of chakra, but that will come later. Focus chakra in a pool under your feet, and just keep moving the pool of chakra as you move your feet.

I pulled myself up and out of the lake, spitting out water.

Okay, I got it this time.

I again begin to focus the chakra underneath my feet. This time, instead of trying to focus a separate layer of chakra beneath each foot, I focus it into an oval platform beneath both of my feet. I again attempt to stand on the water, going one foot at a time.

*You stand perfectly on the water, and then I walk over onto the water as well*

*I push you slightly and you sink back into the water.* :| Punk. o.o

Your chakra needs to be more stable. In battle, you'd never pull off the technique if you can be stopped just like that. Focus more on the chakra, and less on the result. If you properly focus the chakra, then the result will be correct no matter what. From the second you step on the water, your only thought should be focusing your chakra.

Alright.

I again focus the chakra into a platform beneath my feet. Carefully I walk onto the water, doing the same as before. But this time instead of worrying about the water, I continue to focus on the chakra. The water becomes and afterthought as I continue to focus the chakra beneath my feet.
