Plus the fact that Sasuke's sharingan was forced to turn off due to imaginary chakra problems to allow Naruto to counter his Chidori, yet those same chakra problems disappeared seconds later when he is able to use a full chidori and Amaterasu, one of the most chakra taxing jutsus in the series.

Apparently chakra reserves only come into play when it's convenient.

Sasuke was too overconfident. He had not been around Naruto enough to know that he got better with taking advantage of openings no matter how small they might be, he also did not realize that Naruto would keep going as long as Sasuke did. Due to his Uzamaki heritage his stamina was much better. Naruto/Ashura (had the body, stamina), Sasuke/Indra (had the eyes).

The point is that they were equal in power so they were not able to beat each other, which is why they both lost an arm. The only difference between them was that Naruto's will of fire (determination) helped his stamina and ability to keep going because he wanted to end the feud more than Sasuke wanted to kill him. Sasuke finally had to acknowledge that Naruto was going to keep it up no matter what he did. Naruto's conviction outlasted Sasuke's.
