I think it also depends on personal expectations and personal tastes.
Because I became a Hinata-fan BEFORE I became a NaruHina fan.
Therefore, if Naruto is supposed to like the SAME points about Hinata that I do - I'd clearly consider it good-written (cause it looks so to me).
Now the only question remains, whether Naruto's and mine (or those like me, who start as H-fans before becoming NH-fans) tastes differ, and how much exactly.
THIS, we'll NEVER find out, though, so...
