Sasuke admitted that he lost, which means he admitted that he cannot kill Naruto, which in turn means he cannot defeat Naruto, because in order to kill you have to defeat first. I think it's you who lack's common sense to interpret manga
The fact the eyes are literally Itachi's and Sasuke finally getting his sight and power back explains why he said that, like i said Sasuke didn't get a single upgrade and didn't achieve any of Itachi's techniques

Naruto had full kurama inside and he failed to escape a simple genjutsu in the movie, him being a jin and Kurama being in sync with him, Kurama could just pass on his chakra to Naruto and release but nope Sakura did
