Yeah, maybe she tought that she would face Hamura? Seems like the Tenseigan plan was an idea developed by him "Hamura deprived his entire posterity of those eyes to create the Tensei-gan weapon", how she came to know the existence of Ootsutsukis on the moon is still a unanswered question tho.

And another maybe adds to the numerous unanswered questions left by Ootsutsukis as a whole. Would have been nice in Kishimoto explained this instead of wasting time with useless chapters and then explaining it in the movie, in the interviews and god knows what next.

Uh, no. That would imply that Tenseigan>her power. The entire Rinnigan=Tenseigan was an error in Naruto wiki. Plus, never saw God Tree Zetsu, only Gedo Mazo Zetsu.

So you're saying Toneri, a descendant of Hamura and by extension a descendant of Kaguya is stronger than Kaguya? Shouldn't Kaguya, as a progenitor of chakra, be the strongest being in Narutoverse?

It was but Kishi kind of screwed it up. Naruto and Sasuke are more powerful than Hagoromo and Hamura... bullshit.
If they had only their own power, they wouldn't have surpassed the original, first generation.
Yes, they might have surpassed the "previous" one but not the original.
It took all of tailed-beasts chakra + hagoromo's chakra for Naruto and Sasuke to fight on equal grounds with Kaguya.
It is really a big stretch to accept that Toneri could be stronger than Kaguya.

Apparently Kaguya was turned into the Gedo Mazo before the Zetsu process was completed.
