OT: I am hoping that the Soul King is as powerful as they claim him to be, but it also seems like he is extremely delicate. It wouldn't make sense for Ichibei to ask Ichigo to protect the Soul King if the Soul King is an almighty powerful diety...............

I don't think the soul King is powerful, I think he is somewhat mighty, but i don't think he's powerful. If he was powerful why would he need to be protected
