A Symbol
With power in my hands, and my mask; a symbol,
I have set out to do what no one else can do,
The flames of freedom and hope, will rekindle,
My dream to change the world will come true.
I may lose none, I may lose all,
But that is the price that comes with the promise of eternal happiness,
I have dirtied my own hands with flesh and blood, so that no one else will take the fall,
And descend into a hole of emptiness.
Sometime down the line, I felt like all was lost,
My friends turned against me, my love dead and gone,
I wanted revolution, but at what cost?
At the cost of all I love and care for, all of which is now forgone?
The sacrifices I made have turned my heart to stone,
Out of pain and anguish, from the loss and betrayal,
But I must carry on, and ascend to the throne,
So that I can create peace, and ultimately prevail.
With my enemy slain, I take his place,
On the throne of a king, standing above the ones below,
And just as planned, I will begin my fall from grace,
To achieve the dream of peace I swore to create so long ago.
The world will remember me as a criminal and a fiend,
But to the ones that truly knew, I’ll be known as the one who achieved equilibrium,
The one who achieved the peace, of which people always dreamed,
Such was my goal and dream, the Zero Requiem.
