She is a bad character.

all you did is shift the blame on an equally bad character and didn't prove anything good about hinata's character.

when you say hinata saved naruto from pain remember that sakura saved sasuke from gaara and both were in grave danger and needed to be saved/healed after that.

also all what you said is biased since you're clearly downplaying sakura since you said hinata wanted to save naruto and sakura did somthing similar to that:

in part 1 when the 2 chunnin ninjas attacked team 7 and tazuna and when they aimed to attack tazuna she was standing in front of him i order to protect him (not to mention that's her first mission and was never scared unlike naruto back then) until sasuke was in front of her and then kakashi came in to save the day.

don't get me wrong tho sakura is as much of a bad character as hinata so you're just being a biased fanboy.

Being helpful doesnt mean she is a good character. Especially since her only reason for surviving and fighting was basically for 'Naruto kun'. it would have been nice to see some actual redemption of her character like she goes back and confronts her father and takes her place as Hyuuga head or something (I wish he died and not poor Neji). But instead even after Neji death its not "oh poor Neji died protecting our last hope of winning the war, I should avenge him and make sure he didnt die in vain", it was just "I want to be closer to Naruto, wow he feels warm and I feel protected by him holding my hand". Neji didnt deserve that.

Her character development goes from wanting to be stronger to impress Naurto to wanting to be strong to be closer to Naruto and impress him. Even Sakura who i always hated, went from having her inner sakura where she would act out her inner most feelings, to being comfortable and strong enough to just say it on her own and protect people for the good of protection such as when she was fighting Sasori with Chiyo. If it was Hinata it would have to have had some relevance to Naurto whereas at least Sakura was able to not think about Sasuke 24/7. And in Part 1 when Naruto didnt return with sasuke, Sakura didnt start balling, she even tried to be optimistic and not bring him down. No doubt if it was Hinata shed just collapse and start crying. Because tharts how her character was written. From part 1 to part 2 she didnt change at all even if she got a few more techniques.

All that being said, I am still a NaruHina fan, but tbh, Hinata's character is built around her love for Naruto and nothing else. Thats why she is a bad character. You cant write a character soley using another character, each character has to stand on their own, but if you take away her love for Naruto, all you get is a weak girl.

Indeed her disrespect of her fallen cousin is 10 times worse than anything sakura did lets see the list here:

her cousin died for her>five seconds later>"dayum naruto hand is so strong" can't control her hormones for 60 seconds for the sake of her fallen cousin?

her sister eyes are snatched and her father is beaten up>was ready to marry the guy who did that to them and after all that instead of showing concern for her father and sister she kisses naruto.

and they say she's a good character? f*ck no.

This is the third logical NaruHina fan I met on this base

While I agree with the point about Hinata being all about Naruto - I disagree with the point of it making Hinata a BAD character.
Simple point:
Remove Hinata - WHO are you left with to REPRESENT and FOCUS on Naruto???
NO ONE.
All other characters have NEVER related so much to Naruto as had Hinata.
NOBODY shares his NINDO (or at least not verbally).
NOBODY likes his FAILURE side (everyone admires his HERO side, but what about his "lesser" one).
And interestingly, NOBODY had forced him into such EXTREME REACTIONS like Hinata had done TWICE (blood vow and 8-tails).
Thus, I can safely conclude that Hinata is used as a "Naruto beacon" of sorts - she ACCENTUATES some of his HIDDEN sides that NOBODY ELSE could or would.
Thus, her being FOCUSED on him so much, is rather a NECESSITY instead of a NUISANCE.
She simply fills in a few character interaction niches that NOBODY ELSE does.
This definitely DOESN'T make her a BAD character - just a "forcibly unique" one.
And PRETTY MUCH THE SAME can be said about Sakura towards Sasuke - EXACTLY the same logic of being the ONLY ONE to ACCENTUATE some of HIS sides as well.
That's just the way Kishi decided to SHOW character development.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Hinata is one of the worst written characters in the series. Her whole entire purpose and existance was to be Naruto's lady since Sakura rejected him. He had no choice but to accept Hinata's creepiness! Poor Naruto!

Coming from a user named "SakuraHarunoHaterSlayer" that's not saying much.

Coming from 99% of others neither.
Mostly cause they can never back it up without resorting to non-manga sources or personal interpretations that are too ambiguous to rely on.

I think calling her a bad character is pushing it. She is no different than majority of females in this manga who revolve around boys. Also given the amount of screen time she has. I think you are being a bit harsh on her.

We all know Kishi is not great with writing female characters. Kishi did get a bit carried away with the Naruto kun thing just like he got carried away with Sakura spending so much time wondering if Sasuke noticed or cared about her. I also think he ruined Obito's character a bit with all of the Rin stuff. All three of these examples were over done by Kishi.

I think that for the small amount of panel time that Hinata had throughout the manga, she was a well developed character in comparison to Sakura and Ino who had much more panel time than her. I think Koshej is correct in that Hinata and Sakura were used as beacons as a way to highlight certain aspects of Naruto and Sasuke that other characters could not, which made for better character development for Hinata but less character development for Sakura precisely because she was a main character and not a side character.

I don't believe that Hinata was a poorly developed character. I think she had quite a bit of development considering the amount of panel time she had in comparison to Sakura. Sakura should have had much better development considering that she has the most panel time out of all of the female characters.

The worst thing is that Hinata outgrew her initial shortcomings, while Sakura fully relapsed to them in the end.
THIS is why Sakura is rightfully despised, while Hinata-hating is idiotic.

What about all the people who he saved like Gaara who used to be evil but then changed because of Naruto, or Neji who used to not care about anyone but was shown the light by Naruto or Tsunade who lost hope after Dan died? Naruto was able to impact all their lives and then they were all able to continue their own life still. Hinata literally hasnt be shown doing anything else other than talking about Naruto. She is a badly written character. In part 1, they attempted to give her the backstory of her father basically disowning her but it never progressed any further for her. Her new abilities and techniques all revolve around her getting stronger for Naruto. She could only do the 32 palm technique but thinking of naruto gave her the ability to do the 64 palm technique. Thats not character development, that's just the same character acting the same. She gets stronger because of Naruto in Part 1 and in Part 2 gets stronger due to Naruto.
Alternatively look at Gaara, in the back of his mind he remembers how Naruto showd him how to care for people but he fights to protect his sand village and in memory of his mothers love. He has the connection to Naruto yet is able to continue.

I do like Hinata, just she is a poorly written character.

I don't believe that you like the CANON Hinata, though.
Cause how can you say "she didn't change" between her introduction and stuff like 437 and 615???
That's leaps and bounds of PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT.
Also, Hinata is UNIQUE to moments like 98 and 559 - and even Gaara would only amount to "what if" there.
Sorry, but I don't buy "what if"s, only canon facts.
